Title: Novelty shoot methods
Post by: Mike Koenig on October 04, 2008, 11:54:00 AM
Folks:  I am part of the Colorado Traditional Archers Society.  We're trying to come up with new and different novelty shoots for our annual High Country shoot.  Does any one have plans, suggestions for this type of shoot.  We've used running bears, Bucking horse type of shoots.  does any one have other types or plans for building these novelty type events..we've lost our plans and our expertise.  can anyone help?

I think a 50 /50 poker game is fun.  Take a board and staple a full deck of cards out on it, face to you, and then you get five arrows. You shoot, and who ever gets the best poker hand wins. The only thing is getting everyone through, you can do two things
1. have everybody shoot it as the last target and record what everyone has and then announce a winner.
2. set up mini tournaments of 5-10 guys and let them shoot and split the prize for the club and the winner.  I suppose you can do a number of things but this is what I came up with.  I think it would be a good idea to have an extra deck of cards on hand incase one gets shot out.
Have fun
ALLAN

Archery Golf... use Flu-Flu arrows and play like it's a normal golf game, but once on the green use a small target(4-6 inch) instead of a hole.  We did once for a MWR fund raiser and it was a blast.

Hey Mike,

Do you remember the squirrel novelty target Chad and Clay Middlebrook made where you had to shoot the squirrels nest and than shoot the running squirrel that came out of it?

That one was awesome.

I'll see if I can get Chad to draw up some plans.
