Post by: Bob L. on September 30, 2008, 06:28:00 PM
Does anyone know a company that makes a 34" carbon arrow shaft?
Thanks
Bob

I'm not for sure but I think my AD Nitro Stingers might have been that long.I cut mine to 31" so I don't have any full length ones to measure. You may want to check those out.

I've never tried it but, you might find something at a kite shop.  The frames in high performance kites are darn near identical to arrow shafts.  I've seen some pretty stout tubes that are quite long and look like they are the right diameter for and insert.  Try a search for kite parts and you'll find a bunch of sites.

This    site (http://www.kitesandfunthings.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=SSPSERIES)   lists some stuff along with some specs.

I just checked one of my tubes (which happens to be the sky shark brand) and both 100gr brass insert and gold tip aluminum insert fits in it perfect and it's about 33.75" long.  I've even seen fancy carbon weaved tapered tubes too.

If I had a spine tester I'd run to the shop and test some shafts/tubes for you.  I don't know if they will be stiff enough though.  Hope this helps.

I've given up (32" draw) on expecting to ever find any.  Heritage (Carbon Express) is the longest carbon I have found to date at 32.75" from nock valley to BOP.  I extend them by footing with aluminum, and using the aluminum adapter.

I guess I'll just stick to the good old 2117 aluminum shafts or shorten my arms. Thanks!

I have a friend with that problem. He foots his carbon shafts. The add-on is the same shaft as his main shaft, and he inserts a smaller diameter shaft all the way into the footing (right up against the insert) and extends it about three inches up into the main shaft; with all the components epoxied in place. Works very well, and strengthens the shaft back of the insert while also pushing his arrow's FOC up.

Bob, I'm sending you an email. We're in the process of changing internet servers, and I might lose the computer at any moment, so if you don't get an email soon, I'll get it out to you as soon as the connection is reconfigured.
