Title: PBS youth Leadership Hunt
Post by: tim roberts on September 28, 2008, 08:29:00 PM
Next August the PBS Biannual Leadership hunt is going to be held out here in Utah!  The will be taking the youth hunting for Cow and Spike Elk, (big bulls are reserved for the rich and famous, just a joke..........kinda)!
Anyway, this will be a great opportunity for some young bowhunters to have a chance to chase, hunt, and learn elk.
As of last I heard there are only 4 applications in at the PBS Office.  They will be looking for about 6-8 kids to particapate on this hunt.
Thanks,

Having had a chance to help with one of these, you will have fun with this Tim, and there is a great crew of PBSer's there in UT to help!

For those that do not know about this hunt, it is a chance for youth that show "leadership possibilities" to take an extra step in their development and go the extra mile in their futures for the benefit of bowhunting, and even life in general.  Although it is not about numbers, many  of the youth have gone forth to be active in their state orgs, and set the right examples for others of all ages, by their responsible actions afield.  This IMO has been and is a valuable resource for us all, and a hugely successful idea and program.  Kudos to Tim and the Utah folks for taking on this great task for PBS and for all bowhunting.

This, folks, is an example of what PBS does for you, even if you are not a member.

My older son went in 2005 and learned a ton from some of the best leaders in our industry (Larry Fischer, Bo Slaughter, Kevin Bahr, Dick & Yote Robertson, Mark Baker, Doug Campell, Billy Lewis, and on and on). I know I've not mentioned some of the other great ones that were there, but it gives you an idea of the quality of the experience. My son is now in college and carrying the traditional bowhunting torch!  I will be submitting an application for my 16 year old son and 15 year old daughter. I'm hopeful they qualify for the hunt. It will be one to remember. Rich Rothkelly (sp) and many others are putting in some serious work to make this a great experience. If you have a youth that could benefit, by all means put in an application.  You won't get any better instruction on how to be a leader and conduct yourself than with these PBS fellows.

Some neat country to hunt elk in!  The guys hosting it know the area well, it should be a good time for all.
