Title: help for tap and die, please
Post by: foudarme on September 28, 2008, 08:20:00 AM
I would like to tap the rear extremity of my 100gr brass inserts in order to screw inside them the gold tip adding weights.
The diameter for the screwing hole must be just exactly the same that on the carbon express or goldtip inserts in order to fit with the goldtip weights.
But in my country I can only get some metric taps and not the SAE one..Could someone tell me what is the good tap for that before I order it in your country?...

Are the weights not inserts themselves?

The thread on arrow inserts is, 8 gauge 32 threads per inch

Or as we refer to it here 8-32, which is NC(national coarse) not SAE

And while we're on the subject.

Sight/quiver mounts are 10/24

Thumb mount bushings for quivers, like  the Bear are 1/4 x 20.   Stabilizer bushings 5/16 x 18.

The stabilizer bushings are 5/16-24, I just went through that, I needed to add a bowfishing accessory temporarily to my bow and finding ANYTHING that I could screw the 5/16-24 male thread into was just about impossible.
