I am looking to hunt moose in 2009 in north eastern Canada. Would love a self-guided or semi-guided area...even better an outfitter that catered to trad. archers. Does anyone have any experience with moose in Canada?
Only know one that caters to traditional only but he is in British Columbia. I was Moose hunting in Alberta and it was a good trip but I live in Montana so I can understand why you are looking for someone closer to home.
I just returned from Ron Henry's bear camp in Quebec, he had a couple of guys moose hunting. They had an oppurtunity at a big bull and couln't shoot because they were trying to get it on video. Quebec is one moose per two tags and Ron's hunts are more of a do it yourself affair but I'm pretty sure you can get him to be as involved as you want. His prices are very reasonable. I have hunted with Bob Bearman in Nipigon, Ontario for years and have had great success with trad gear. He utilizes decoys with his calling to get them VERY close. Very affordable as well. Give him a call 807-887-3801.
