Title: Making Woodies 8^).
Post by: George D. Stout on September 25, 2008, 10:45:00 PM
Another summer has passed away,  another field has gone to hay.

It's close to season, another reason, for making Woodies.

The broadheads filed, the shavings piled, the nuts are falling....the squirrels are wild;

No need to reason....tis' just the season, for making Woodies.

When you have got the fever, there's nothing that works as good;

As gathering nocks and fletching, and working with shafts of wood....

So go ahead, and set the clamp; you need some Scotchgard...in case it's damp.

No need to reason, we need no season, for making Woodies.     :goldtooth:

I also have a new set in progress. Not that I need them but more that I need to make them. Why? Because it is fun and rewarding when you shhot arrows that you made with your own hands.

Just got a new bow. Looking through my wood arrow stock, I have several dozen that will work, but I just had to make a new set to go with the new bow. I probably have a hundred shootable woods ready to go, but I just can't help making more.

Now that my hunting season is about over I have been eyeing those ACMEs sitting in the closet! I've got until Nov. when the late blacktail season opens...

George,

Thanks!  In 5 minutes I'll be headed out to the shop to dip 24 cedars.  I stained them yesterday.  In all my hunting years, and there are a lot, I've never killed a deer with anything else.  My season starts on Thursday here in Maine and I have some aluminums ready, but I just couldn't do it.  I have to use woodies.
