Good luck to all of you Texas Tradbow shooters this Saturday. Our season is finally here. We just got a nice cool front to roll through the Houston area and I know the folks down here cannot wait to get into the woods and get Hurricane Ike off of their minds. Good luck to everyone and I hope everyone has a GREAT HUNT!
I'll be in Fredericksberg Saturday morning......I can't wait...Good Luck all
Uvalde is going to be my hunting grounds. Can't wait.

It came up so fast I didn't even really relize it. This will be my first season with a trad bow (if I feel confident enough) and hopefully get in the woods a couple times this year. School is driving me nuts and I can't go this weekend...if I had anywhere to go. But I will be out there with the pigs and deer soon! Good luck everyone! -Lee
ive been so busy with school that it kinda snuck up on me too. But man oh man im i ready to unwind a little. Ill be spending opening weekend close to home here in east texas. Only about 5 miles down the road from the house. Trail cam is showing consistent activity early and late so we are quite hopeful. AS long as the wind doesnt give us away, blood should be shed.
good luck to all my fellow texan brothers!!
Wished it would cool down more though. Mid-80's day and low 50's at night for awhile here in the Panhandle. I be very, very ready no matter what though. Give me my longbow, a quiver of arrows and some country to poke around in and I be happy, happy. Hunting is a joy to be added this time of year.
I've been so busy with school I totally forgot about hunting until last weekend. Went and got my license and corps permit today. Hunting pressure at the place I hunt is high during the first few weekends, so I will probably stay home and work ahead on school work. That way I have less homework and more time to hunt once the pressure eases off.
Good look to y'all though this weekend :archer:
soccer and football sat am in GTown....then driving out to Mason for the rest of the weekend to bake a ground blind
Yep, it's a little warn here in the Hill country, about 90 today, cools down to about 60 at night! Dress lightly. I'll be at a buddy's place in Pearl, Tx. Good Luck to all and happy hunting!

Some of you know that I am in Law Enforcement here in Houston. I am beat from two weeks of 12 hour shifts. I won't make it in the woods near Centerville until Saturday afternoon.
I have my 4Runner in the shop, might not get off in time to pick it up. Hope to get it on Sat., then I have to get tires, but most of all I need the sleep. In fact, I am so tired that I am not sure if I am excited or not...LOL
We got lots of hogs, and a fair number of deer, so my Honey and I will be sharing a pop-up blind Saturday afternoon. She with her "Black Rhino" longbow, and I with one of my Widows(which one, who knows)of which I am too tired to care right now.
Anyway, my thoughts are as foggy as a morning on the river....Sooooo.
My wish for each and everyone: That each of you shoot true, and the memories of your hunt will never fade, even after the cape on your trophy has....Good Hunting to you all!
Amen to that!
Opening morning was the only hunt I could squeeze in and it was a great hunt with hogs running everywhere.

Aggie1993- You had to miss the Aggie/Army game? Thats too bad. But hey, what a better reason to miss it haha. First win for the Ags! Good luck hunting everyone! -Lee
Ooooooooooohhhhhhhhh no! I listened to the first half on the road home and watched the second half at the house. What an all around great day ;)
Well alright Troy!
I had a little buck nail me on the draw. Could have very easily made meat with a doe, but I wanted a buck so I waited. At about 7:30, here he comes, strutting in like he was the big dog in town. I saw that he was a 6 point with no spread but great length and decided to try and stick him if the shot presented itself. After about 10 minutes of him posing around the does they ambled of and left him all by his lonesome. I got in a hurry and raised my bow with nothing between him and me. Yup he saw the movement and got nervous. A few seconds later he pranced of and stopped to look at me at about 40yrds. Clear shot and he really wasn't spooked, but 15yrds out of my comfort zone. I just let him be and eased out after he left.
I still hunted the 1/4 mile back to camp along some live oaks and finally came up to a little doe about 15yrds away with her head down feeding on some acorns. As I started drawing back I had thoughts of her on my grill. My empty stomach got ahead of me and let out a growl that spooked even me and there she goes, LOL. Didn't even raise her head...just bolted from that position. I smiled and had a loud chuckle over that and headed back up to camp.
This morning was the only chance I got to go, but it sure was fun.
I had a bachelor group of bucks come in right at first light on Saturday morning the wind was right but I couldn't get a shot at this nice 10 that I wanted becase I didn't have a time where at least one set of eyes wasn't looking in my direction. A big ole fat Angus Cow came in and scared the group off so they left the stand unmolested. The wind wasn't in my favor on Sat. Eve so I hope to get back over there and get another shot at the 10. I will post pics if sucessful.
