Thanks for all the replies to my last post. I think I will bump up the insert weight and try that. This brings me to my next question: is there a way to pull the current insert? Or do I have to just start over w/ some new arrows? Thanks.

I don't recall the size of the brass screw I use but it's about 3 inches long.I heat it up and screw it into the insert and pull it out.if it's stick glue or amber glue it will come right out.If it's some sort of power bond It will have to be hot and it may or may not come out.Before replacing the insert clean out the inside of the shaft with a 22cal brush and rinse with a solvent.Use sand paper to rough up the surface of the brass insert and clean.Use amber stick glue and it will hold and remove easy for fine tuning.Good luck, Hill boy
What I've done with HIT inserts is to carefully and slowly drill out the insert.Then get a bore brush and clean out if any of the insert left.They drill easliy being they are aluminum,no heat needed and no damaged the the shaft.I haven't had any luck with trying to heat,the insert are to far down inside the shaft.And the HIT epoxy holds very well.Get a good grip on the shaft and slowly drill,take your time.This is what has worked for me.
Thanks Hill Boy & JRY309! I am going to give both techniques a try. I hate to change anything, as I got the arrows flying soooooo well as it, but they are only about 350 gr w/ the current set up. I would sure love to bump that a bit heavier.
