Need some help from you guys. I am wanting to make my own long bow (probably go with dryad).
1. How long will the bow last barring obvious abuse? It will stay inside.
2. Does anyone hunt with theirs?
3. Does anyone have any pictures of their Dryad self bow? (I have seen the link of the glass bow build). Thank you all for the input...
Will be using it as a primary hunting bow.
A selfbow like any other bow with proper care, should last you a lifetime. There are many like myself, on this site that hunt exclusively with a selfbow.
Just remember that it is not what type of bow that you hold in your hand that makes the hunter. It's how well you know the game your after and your personal limitations with that bow that will make you a better hunter.
Thanks Flatstick. I always take exceptional care of everything I own, just did not know what to expect out of a self bow. Sounds like, provided I do not try to row a boat or play baseball with it...it should be good to use for a while. Thanks for the help.
Dryad's blanks should get you into a durable self-made bow quickly. Take care of it and it will last.
Just to clarify though, it will not be a selfbow. It will be a composite bow. A selfbow is made from one piece of material, generally thought of to be wood, from belly to back. No backing.
Thanks John....self made it is.
Have a look at our 'Boyer's Bench' section......lots of interesting stuff there.
I have made a couple of the Dryad glue-ups and am considering hunting with one this fall.
Do you have any pics? Please share
