Hello,
I'm on the brink of ordering my first custom bow and have my eyes on Dryad Orions.
Can y'all who own one describe what's it like to live with one and how they shoot, maybe with a mention of whether it's a LB or recurve and what weight it's pulling and the woods used.
Thanks alot, I appreciate people's asistance.
Tom.
Hi Tom
Shot one of my buddy's some today, just my take on one after 40 arrows. It was fast, smooth and quite all plus's. It was of longbow limbs 50 lbs @ 28" with no stacking. One of my first impressions was it draws hard for its weight. But it was a constant weight start to finish, not one to build in draw weight. I have had no luck with 3 piece take-downs in the past. My shooting with them has been squirrely, although this bow just dialed in for me. And was consistent with groups, even though his arrows where not tuned well for the bow or visa a versa, not sure which. The bow had a little more mass weight than other's I had issue with. But then again I like some mass weight to the bow.
After mostly discounting a 3pc longbow except for maybe a Bob Lee (There's the mass weight again)
I would seriously put it out front of my choice's.
FYI I now shoot mostly, my Blacktail Elite, Black Widow PGA, Centaur and a Zipper. Just a reference to my preferences in recurves.
Besides how can you go wrong buying a bow from a
Wingnut :D :biglaugh:
Brent
Thanks Brent.
I'd buy a one Piece but shipping is costs are the biggest barrier there.
Do you know what it was made of and what the core was? You can get maple or bamboo core riser and bamboo limb cores.
Thanks again Brent.
Here are some links to some previous threads I thought you might enjoy. I love my Orion.

Tom sorry I do not know, for positive. And he picked it up in a trade, so I can't ask him either.
It had a lot of bacote, limbs and riser. Personally if it where me I would go bamboo limb cores. That is about all the advice I can give.
Unless your left handed, then its osage & bacote riser, osage limbs bamboo cored. 3pc 64" 55 lbs @ 28" Wait :knothead: if ya don't like it I'm unlikely to reimport it :D :jumper:
Seroiusly good luck, and no matter what it is you decide on. May it bring a smile to your face and sole every time you see it, and hold it.
Brent
Thanks Brent.
Well, I'm a lefty!
Thanks for the kind words.
