Title: Camo taped bow and arrow speed
Post by: Oregon Bill on September 21, 2008, 04:10:00 PM
This was a crude experiment I just performed. Using a Samick Deermaster TD recurve, #55 at 28 inches, with Gold Tip arrows weighing 432 grains, the average of 10 shots was 167.6 fps over the Oehler 35 chronograph. After adding about 100 grains weight of HS vinyl camo tape, the average of 11 arrows over the chronograph was 162.7 fps, for an apparent net loss of about 5 fps with the tape. Take the info for what it is worth, which is next to nothing.
