Title: Ray Hammond knives
Post by: Marblesonac on September 20, 2008, 03:06:00 PM
Ray has a thread in the sponsors classifieds here.

I can't post in that thread, but felt compelled to say how much I like his knife designs....

Very nice job Ray!

Makes some real nice knives. Just received a couple for me and my dad.

Ray, that's about the best lineup of honnest to goodness hunter's knives as I've seen. How come you didn't tell my you made fantastic knives? Never mind. Dang, but I do love good knives. I really didn't need to even see this. Makes me think of how many I could have bought for what this back problem has already cost me - and I'm just getting started!    "[dntthnk]"

Thanks, everyone! Its very nice to hear stuff like this once in a while. I have to say, I am enjoying the process of knife building nearly as much as hunting- I sort of look on it as an extension of "me" is participating in hunts all over- I feel certain Alex B used the knife I made for him in processing that beautiful elk he got last week. He's a good friend and I was really happy to have 'been' there with him in that way.

I recently became very frustrated though...it takes me a while to get these things done..and the wonderful US Postal Service LOST a knife that a nice man on this site has been waiting patiently for a long time for! Really frustrating.

Especially since my experience tells me they will NOT pay claims. Needless to say I am going to be quite careful with all my shipments in future.

Look for bigger and better things from me....Squirrel Bait is helping me build a forge, and I'm in the midst of my first hidden tang knife so its onward and upward!

Cool, bigger and better...hard to beleive, yet I do.

As a fan of "tang"    :saywhat:     I can't wait to see pictures of your hidden tang knife.

Sorry about the loss of that knife...

I'll be carrying one of Ray's knives on my hip this season! Absolutely gorgeous, yet made to perform the job at hand.

He really makes a helluva knife, the way YOU want it!

Thanks, Randy! Hope you have a great season down in God's Country..aka the part of GA I most enjoyed hunting...aka land of the big bucks!!!

You got a good mast crop in the making? Our oaks around ATL are really getting thick with the acorns..and the persimmons and crabapples are as heavy as I can ever remember.

The acorns look really good especially the white oaks i've looked at...persimmons also...now if my shoulder will just cooperate!

Hey, Rastaman, what's his other talent?  Lol - actually those that have known Ray for years know that he has the talent, patience, and attention-to-detail to produce really nice stuff like the knives shown.  I will own one -  someday.
