Title: Kodiak Magnum, BH and NP
Post by: Rick Butler on September 19, 2008, 02:00:00 PM
I just picked up a very nice(and I mean very nice!) Kodiak Magnum from the 70's.  Can anyone tell me the approx. brace height and nock point?  The original string is on this bow and although it's in very good condition I intend to replace it.  But right now with the original string the bow braces at 9".  I've tried setting the nock point anywhere from 1/4 to 1 " and still getting severe tail flip from my arrows.  Oh the SN on this bow is KU36165.  Thanks in advance.

On my 1966 Kodiak Magnum--the brace height is always between 8 and 8 1/2 inches---and the nock point is about 5/8 above center---but I shoot 3 under and lefthanded.

Thanks Elf, Just put a new flemish twist string on and some wooly whispers.  Set the BH at 8" and the NP at 5/8", wow! this bow's a little gem for being 30+ yrs. old, she now shoots straight and true.
This was the bow of my youth that I  lusted after but could never afford. Fred Bear was one of my Heroes and growing up in Michigan I was fortunate to have visited his museum, and meet the man himself on one of those visits.

Rick I hope your new string is DACRON--anything is dangerous for your bow.

Rick meant to say anything other than Dacron is dangerous for your bow.
