Post by: frassettor on September 19, 2008, 01:26:00 PM
A Black Widow PLX 64 inch 58@28..Will 2117 cut to 29" with a 145 tip work? Or what arrow will work for this setup

You may need to go a little heavier on the tip.

If that is what you have try it and see how close you are. Every bow is different, but it wouldn't surprise me if you need 200-250 up front.

Try it with what you have and see first.

You get 200+ grains upfront by using steel adaptors and glue-on broadheads. You could also use weighted inserts. In my case, I have had good results with a 125 grain adapter and 130 grain Zwickeys.

I started my tuning using field points of various weights (125 to 250 grains) - until I close - then finished up with the combination above.

I would try a 2018.

Give your 2117 a try, what have you got to lose?  On the PLV I owned I used a 30.5" 2216 with a 150 grain head.  My bow was 57#@29".  I couldn't believe it.  I would have thought 2018, but that arrow came out about sideways.  The 2117 may work, but don't be surprised if you need a heavier head.  A little longer would work to, just get yourself an arrow stretcher   :)

I'm with Moosman.  If you are drawing a full 28" the 2117 with a 145gr point should be real close.

It would for me with that bow.
