just wondering if anybody shoot a new bear like 2000 or newer model im considering buying a new one and wanted to know what you all think thanks

My son and I purchased Super Mag 48 's three years ago. They came equipped with fast flight strings and were surprisingly high performance shooting 480 gr. arrows (from sixty + pound draw wt. recurves) at about 205 fps. The quality of build looked good however, within the first couple of months, both bows delaminated about 2 inches below the fade-outs. We draw about 29 inches so those short 48" bows were over drawn a bit and the 480 gr. arrows were a little on the light side for the bows. Escalade Sports quickly replaced the bows under warranty. I switched to a dacron string and heavier arrows but my son still shoots the original setup. We have not had any problems with the replacement bows so possibly the original ones just both came from a bad batch.
I bought a new bear super kodiak a few years ago. Good bow, I shot an elk and a few deer with it. A little over a year ago, I had a custom recurve made by Kota bow CO. and to be honest with you, the custom bow was only $50.00 more,
And is twice the bow that the Bear is.
I'd go with a custom bow, and not waste your money on a Bear.

go custom, bear is not the quality it used to be, so go custom or get an older bear, the martins are good though I hear
John I like the Bear line of bows, they will do you right. I like martin a little better but as stated above if you are readdy to drop some coin, search the classifieds here and get custom bow. If you can shoot a few before you buy you can get a feel for the bow I have had a few bows that just did not work for me, not comfortable at all. I always enjoy a new bow search, almost as much fun as a hunt...

I bought a 55# Bear Super Kodiak new three years ago. This has been the only bow that I have hunted with the last three seasons. I have not taken it easy with this bow, hunting about seventy days each year of the last three seasons. I have no complaints whatsoever with the new Bear bows. I would love to have an old one, but I guess if I hang on to this one long enough it will be "old" Pick a bow, build your own history with it and it will become an old friend with you. The stories my bow could tell already.....
I had a new Kodiak and a new Grizzly. Both were fine bows that I put tons of arrows through. My only problem was the grip. For some unknown reason the new Bears have the deepest part of the grip cut way too low. They keep making them that way and it's a shame. I reluctantly sold both bows just because of the grip.
I searched many swap meets until I found an early 70's Grizzly that fits my hand perfectly. The arrow lays right above my knuckle and I shoot it great. I guess today's manufacturing procedures don't allow the extra time it takes to make a more custom type grip.
To me, Brackenbury has the best fitting grip out there. I shoot one and have another on order.
It's all about the grip.
I held a new Super K at Cabelas a few months back, didn't like the grip at all...grip felt like I was holding a 2x2. Not real impressed with the look and feel.

We have shot the Bears along with hundreds of other bows thru the chrono. For the most part, there is no real difference in speed.
Dollar for dollar, they are a very good value.
