I am looking for a trail came to take security pics and deer pics. Do the IR flashes still flash red or can you not see them at all? How about the moultrie I40? Thanks
G
Great question I would like to know too.
On another forum I go to, theres been threads about I40 problems. Mainly the display going out with little useage.
The one I have flashes red. I think its the stealthcam prowler
My I40 flashes red...but I didn't see an reaction from the deer I get. I've only had it 3 weeks.
Everything so far about the I40 I like.

It doesn't really "flash" red. You'd have to be looking directly at the camera and see the IR illuminators light up. They kinda turn on for a couple of seconds and then turn off - there's no "flash" per se.
My Moultrie 140 works great. The IR flashes red but that is just an indicator, not the main flash. The flash is regular white, but does not seem to spook the deer. I guess because it is so fast. Flash and done.
I have the I40 and recommend it.

There's only two IR trail cameras that do not have any "red glow" that I'm aware of.
The Reconyx RC60 and the Predator Xtinction.
if it has any flash at all, red or white it can't be used as a security cam unless it comes with a flash off mode..
