I have a R/D longbow that I love to shoot. The arrows really fly good and it is very fast. The problem is, I cant get it as quiet as my D shaped bows. Would the hush puppies help? Any experience/comments would be appreciated.
I have them on my A&H ACS/CX, and they made it very, very quiet. I would recommend them. Duane
ChekMate Crusader + Hush Puppies = just a quiet "thump".
Shrew Classic Hunter + Hush Puppies = just a quiet "thump"
It will be tough though to match the stealth of a D bow.....
My Turkey Creek with Hush Puppies is about as quiet as they come.
yep!
I use homemade ones on mine.
BTW Slayer, are you still making targets? If you are, pls. e-mail me.
Hush puppies work great! I started making my on with wool-ease, but I don't think they work as well. Put a ts-plus string on it. You might be suprised how well that stuff works on a longbow.
I use hush puppies on all my bows. My latest longbow is patterned after the Dryad Hunter as shown in TBB 4. This is THE quietest bow I have ever shot! It has hush puppies on it.
I just put on a 1/2 set of Hushpuppies on my new Treadway..
WOW.... Now I ordered a full set, to compare, but the 1/2 set worked amazingly well...
From experience I would offer that the Dan Toelke R.D. "whips" that I own & others I have heard shot with only the "cat whiskers" on the f.f. strings supplied with the bows are ridiculously quiet. My opinion is backed by compliments received often from other shooters on how quiet Dan's bows are. The "thump" mentioned in earlier replies is not just quiet from a "whip" it is practically inaudible from just a few feet away.
