Hunter's safety, that is. I did PA's independent study version and went for the 3 hour state regs/test part. I'm pretty stoked since the majority of the test was on guns and I have only shot twice in my life (this summer)!
Oh, and a big thanks to Killdeer for sending me information on guns and gun safety.
Anyway, now for a dumb question:
In the small game regs, for example, it says for bunnies: "2 daily, 8 possession" what does the "8 possession" bit mean? 8 for the entire season? 8 in your freezer at one time? just a little confusion there.
Now all I need is to buy a license. :)
Sarah
8 total in your prossession (freezer, and game bag) at 1 time.
Congrats! Its one step closer to your goal. Killy, ya know, she is a lot nicer than she lets on....she puts up this front....LOL. A great lady and a great shot on running bunnies.
If you are into small game, and want to see what its like with 60+ tradgangers, check out Shawn's JLMBH threads from the last few years. You are close enough, and you would never forget it. Just ask Killdeer.
Again, congrats and good luck on all your future hunts. They are all successful, one way or another.
so...now a math question for clarification:
if i have 8 bunnies in my freezer
and i eat two
can i go out the next day and harvest two more?
You go girl! Congrats on doing and passing hunter safety.
Possession is just that. If you shoot 2 rabbits a day for 4 days, you can't shoot more till you eat some. Very good fried like chicken or slow cooked in a crock pot with cream of mushroom soup. Go get em.
ok got it. thanks!
Congradulations on passing! Bunnies are really good to eat! I like them fried and gravy made in the pan after they are done. Pour the gravy over a bed of rice and your tongue will beat your brains out wanting more.
I wanna be Sarah when I grow up. Or MO Sherpa. Or both.
I can't tell you, Sarah, how pleased I am to read about all of your accomplishments. You are one energetic, bright, talented gal, and you romp through all this with the joy of a fresh-loosed bird dog. You never fail to make me smile.
Enough of that crap...Jamie, stop running your yap or I'll give it a slap. Killdeer the Curmudgeon doesn't take such slander lightly. :readit: I have never met so many wonderful people all in a bunch in my life. Even Jamie...shhhhhh!! :p
Killdeer~still crabby, after all these years. :D
Sarah,
Come down here to Texas and you can shoot and possess as many rabbits as you want. Although....once you get a close look at a flea bitten Jack rabbit....you probably won't want to possess one LOL
Congratulations on your success!!!
Brett

CONGRATULATIONS Sarah!!!!!!!!!! :archer:
GReat job on passsing your test
In PA possession limit has noting to do with what's in your freezer. Its a field possession limit so you can only take the daily limit in one day if you happen to be at camp or traveiling and hunting for more then one day you can only have a maximum of 2 day's daily limits on you if you hunted multiple day's. Once to your place of consupotion there is no limit of how many you can store in your frezzer( exept waterfouwl fed reg's)
I'LL PM you with a PA state web site forum like this one lots of info and Game officers on it that will ansewer any of your questions.
Sarah, you just come up to AK and you can shoot as many as you want to clean.
Same for many of the western states.
You fellers have gone and scared this young lady away! She mentions visions of deer and the next thing she knows a bunch of yahoos and hillbillies have started a tussle on who's going to take her to the woods.
Sarah, whenever you fell it is safe to enter the internet waters again, don't be too taken back by them overly zealous country bumkins. Just stamp you foot, look them in the eye and tell them, "NO!" Forgive them, too, they don't get out that often.
Don't worry, I won't be inviting you to hunt with me or my wife would be doing the shooting and it wouldn't be at GAME!!!
Congratulations and hope you really enjoy this endevour.
Congrats, Sarah. It sounds like the you'll have plenty of chances to experience the camraderie of the hunt. It's one of the best parts.
I hope you also take a chance this fall to get out there by yourself and experience that part of hunting that can only be found in solitude, and that I won't even try to put into words.
i wasn't scared away! actually its very heartwarming to have so many nice offers (whether they are serious or not)... can't wait to get in the woods and try this 'hunting' thing out.
good to know about the bunny regs.
thanks everyone!
Bravo, Sarah! Good luck this season. Please make sure to post pics of your adventures afield!
Claudia
Sarah I sent you a pm.
Bunnies were my first game taken. You wont be dissappionted in the table fare or the chase. Got a 14 year old daughter, we plan on chasin the bunnies in november when the season opens here. Kinda started her backwards shes already got 4 deer with no misses!! She reminds me all the time that I dont shoot that well. :biglaugh:
