Title: Which Trail Cam
Post by: Bear Heart on September 13, 2008, 09:41:00 PM
I don't want to get in an argument about trail camera use.  This year I am hunting a new piece of public land and have very little scouting time available.
I have seen trail cams that range from $50- $700.  I just need to know what is out there not hang a picture on the wall.  What are the minimums you would go with?  Any favorite.  I want something on the lower end of the scale.

We run 8 D40 moultree's, Yes there on the bottom end on price but we have great success. Great battery life and easy set up, The trigger speed about 2 or 3 seconds not bad.

I would like to try the better cams but we have several places and just trying to get all of them covered for the best price.

Some of my pics are on the 2008 trail cam thread if you want to see some but they are posted by Guru and Steadman. Check out the thread anyway and you can see some of the different camera's.

Good luck  :goldtooth:

I've used Leaf river, cuddeback and wildview's.  I highly recommend the scoutgaurd.  Plus it's very small and could be easily hidden on public land.

I have a Moultrie D40 and I am very happy with it. Expandable memory with an SD card. Bought it from Sportsmans Guide for $99. Bass Pro had them for $69. Not sure if that is still their price.

That was a sale price at Bass Pro for two weeks, We picked up four and then went back to get some more but they were sold out  :knothead:

There back to 99$ now!! Still a great camera for the price.

The I550 looks good. Anyone used that?  Do deer really care about the flash?

What is the difference between the D40 and the Game Spy 4.0?
