I pull 55# @ 29.5", so the shat will be 30.5" long. If I add 100 grain brass inserts and a Wensel Woodsman head, would you recommend 250's or the 350? Thanks in advance!
Depends upon the type of bow and amount of centershot. We need more info about your set-up.
I would say the 250's. My Widow is 59# and with a shorter draw than yours I think it will be close.
Black Widow PPSAX
Whoops, PSAX
I'm within 1# of that weight and the same draw length, my bow is cut to center...i'm shooting the 150's 30.5", with a 50 grain brass insert and 175 heads.
I can shoot a few different broadheads from 200 grain down to 145 with that set up and they fly great.
Thanks everyone! So based on Drew's experience, the 250's will probably work and the 350's would be way too stiff!
I use un-cut 250's, with a 32" draw out of a 59@32" bow. Unless you are trying the realm of E-FOC, the 350 are WAY too stiff. The 250's are 85# spine.... it take me 250 up front to make them happy.
You may be even able to go 150's.
I shoot a cut to center recurve, 55#@28", and shoot the CE Heritage 250s cut to 29.5" with 75gr. inserts and 160gr. glue-on STOS heads. Hope that helps.
My SA II 55@28 shoots a CE 250 cut 29" with 100 grn insert and a 145 to 175 great. There doesn't seem to be much difference between a 145 and a 175 grn head.
Good Luck
Really need more info. Is your bow a high performance recurve or longbow, is it cut past center? A whole bunch more info is needed, if it is a straight limbed LB not cut to center a 150 may not even work. Shawn
250's. Your set up is almost identical to mine. I shoot the same arrow length and basic set up on a variety of my bows (at around 55#) and they all seem to like the CE 250's just fine.
If it is a Widow PSA it should be cut 3/16" past center. I think you could go with the 250's but you may want to start with them longer and cut down till you get to the right spine. Just a thought...Mike
I would suggest trading the brass inserts for the steel broadhead adapters. The aluminum adapters that most people use is a very weak link.
Just for what its worth. I shoot a PTFX 59@29. CE Heritage 350's cut 30" long. I get perfect flight with 145 grain points. Am unable to load up front with heavier points as it weakens the spine too much.
