I'm about an hour and a quarter south of you in Bedford County. Your are always welcome to come shoot anytime. The stumps are in fine fettle and ready for some blunt tipped arrows.
The Pennsylvania Bowhuner's Festival, in Forksville is the weekend of the 20th of September. We go every year. It's not just traditional but is a great get-together, and you will find some traditional bowyers and shooters there. It's 30 miles north of Williamsport/Montoursville on Rt. 87.
You can go to www.pabowhunters.com/ (http://www.pabowhunters.com/) for additional info on registration, etc.
ummm i'm 2 1/2 hours from state college but if you're ever passing thru... stop by and we'll loose a few
Sarah,
I actually live in state college and work for the University. There is a scattered bunch of trad shooters around this area but unfortunately there is a lack of a trad club/focus in state college area. If you are going to be around the area for an extended period you should capitalize on the PA longbow shoot which is close by in June of this upcoming year, Sawmill and Denton Hill in late June and July respectively and you just missed Shade Gap which was last weekend and a real nice shoot that falls around Sept 5th each year. Not much help for right now except if you need any help on anything, bow tuning, arrows etc. give me a shout. One last thought is the archery class offered by Mark Belton at PSU, a friend of mine and he might be able to give you more insight. My psu e-mail address is tfm2@psu.edu Tom Massaro
Sarah,
I live near DuBois about an hour and a half to your west. I wish you well in your quest for companions with whom you can share your interest in the mystical flight of the arrow.
