can ya feel it?? can ya smell it?? its slowly creeping in, the changing of the seasons which spells DEER SEASON! as the leaves start to change so do my senses and a uneasy, twitchy, urgent feeling takes over. i know it will not be long now untill i follow my inner urges to hit the woods and do what man and women has done sence the begining of time, hunt, gather and live wild and free. sorry to ramble here but its one of those nights as i stand on the back deck, gaze at the hunters star and feel the wind of change as it blows in a new season up on us and i am full of wonder lust and adventure. soon i will hunt with my brothers and sister, both human and wild, and roam the mountains once again. this is my high, this is my life, this is magic!!!! :campfire:
I was thinking the same thing.
Yep its in the air alright, I really started feeling it today! Its been dropping down in the low 50's at night and topping out at 69 degrees for the past couple days! I went I bout my Deer and Turkey tags tonight. I just waiting on my Arrowmaster and it's on!!!!!! Good luck everyone and be safe!
I feel it too My Brother!!!!! Soon we will roam the mountains together!!!!! :archer: :archer:
I can feel it too! This time of year is magical. :archer: :archer:
season here starts on a wendsday, I think that day of school I might get "sick" and head to the woods
A stick-bow in your hands when the leaves start to turn - the only magic left in this world.
Ken,
You ain't found a "wildwood weed" patch up there in the Adirondacks, have ya? Just kidding, I know exactly how you feel. I'll be roaming the Appalachians. The wait has been especially tough down here this year because August has been cooler than usual. I go to work thinking "this is a perfect morning to be on a deer stand...cool enough for long sleeves, moving deer, and not getting busted swatting mosquitos". Happy hunting!
Someone who does not hunt misses out on what we all look forward to. The cool breeze we notice, the first leaves on a Maple that show color, or when we pass an apple tree and notice a few apples have fallen. The sunshine feels WARM, instead of HOT. Coffee tastes better.
We can FEEL it... we can SMELL it. It is there for all to enjoy, but only those who are connected
get to enjoy the subtle beginnings of Autumn. Too
many people live day to day and do not notice what is happening.
It is magic alright,...and it`s here.
Enjoy and embrace it.
Bone, we are both DEFINITLY on the same page!
Dogrib,
i can not remember an August this cool, i love it!
It's the end of august, Robins have let. It's getting close to that time in n. w. Ohio
I feel it as well over here west of you, ADK Ken. And I am glad I have a tag or two left from last year so I can get out on Saturday the 27th!

Bonebuster, you always find a way to put our thoughts and feelings into words. Well said man! :archer:
Bakes
Yeah Man!!!!!!! You got it right Ken.
It is also in the stars. As I walked my dog lately in the early dawn around 5 AM, the air is definitely colder! Time for long pants! Not shorts! I have noticed the constellation ORION has returned in the eastern sky. Perhaps at the most fitting time of year. The Nights are cooler. The bucks are shedding their velvet. The bachelor buck groups of summer are dispersing. A new string is on my bow, and my bow is tuned. ORION the hunter has re-appeared like an old friend and we are ready! Have a safe and successful hunting season everyone!
cant say it any better!
Fall is one of GOD's gifts to the hunter.
Just had this same conversation yesterday. The tie between us and the rythm of the seasons is tighter than ever, almost palpable. It is truly a great time
it feels good to be in such great company, others would not understand and i do not feel like explaining.
I am with you ...
I work all year for these few moments.
I savor the first glimpse of a hint that "IT" has begun...
The feeling of "IT" ; can't be placed on a calender, watch, or chart..
"IT" is within...
Everyone be safe and enjoy ...
When the season starts to change and I see another bowhunter we both have a slight grin with that twinkle in our eyes....
Another 9 days I will be in the woods.

I'm envious of y'all. We haven't started feeling it down here on the Coast just yet. But, with the mast we have coming down I can see it coming. . .
leaves have just started to change here, not a lot but you can definitly notice. i will be hitting the woods early tomorrow scouting and small game hunting.
Our favorite time of the year for both of us with that cool smell in the air remind of past hunts and upcoming possibilities, I'm stoked!<><
This thread is killing me. My son and I were out for opening day of squirrel season, but this weekend and the next two are spoken for so it looks like our next outing may not be until 27th (which is the archery opener for deer here).
Reading this thread and watching my cool HH and Fred Bear etc. DVDs - I'm starting to get twitchy!

Ken,
I spent the evening on the water, but I could feel the same thing,,, about it being in the air! It is a feeling I have trouble explaining (unlike yourself) but I feel it in the deepest part of my soul! Nice to know it aint just me feel'n it!
Joe,
i write what i feel, you put the same feelings in the bows you build, i am greatfull to have one, i can feel the magic in it with every arrow. same feelings different expressions.
There is nothing like the sites and smells of the fall woods, I long for it all year.
Yeah, my neck is starting to swell!
Every morning I wake up, walk outside, and smile-- hunting season is coming...
This year it's especially bad b/c I'm expecting my new Chekmate any day now. :jumper:
