I just picked up a Pronghorn T/D from a fellow Gang member, and can't wait to shoot it :jumper: . This will be the first T/D Longbow I have ever shot, so how do those of you who have one like it? I have heard nothing but good things about Pronghorn bows, and Herb.
Thanks,
Mike
Top Bows from a Top Bowyer. You'll be a happy man after you shoot it. Pronghorns are one of the only bows I've found that are truly forgiving with any way you choose to grip them.
Thanks,
Jake
I love mine. It's a three piece, and shoots like a dream. Not the fanciest bows around, but they are great shooters. The grip feels like it was made for your hand, and is very comfortable.
I have an Eagle's Flight quiver on mine, and you can hardly tell it's there.
I sold my limbs to go a bit lighter. Then, herb quit takeing orders,so im limbless in Nevada.LOLI have shot many different bows through the last few yrs n i always said OHHHH YEAH,when i picked the pronghorn back up.Once i get another set of limbs,it will never leave my hands again.
You will be happy I bet! I sure like mine. It is a three piece bow 59# @ 27". I draw 29. I think it is smooth all the way back. When I do my part right it does it's part very well! I bought second hand or third but when I called Herb to ask a question why you'd have thought I had just sent him a check! He's a good man and IMO a great bowyer.
Traxx, Sorry to hear you didn't find a lighter set of limbs...but I sure like your heavier ones. Pronghorns are a sweet forgiving bow...Doc
You will love it. They are a great bow. As many have said before they are built buy a truly great man. I have had the pleasure of knowing herb since i was a little kid. They are a forgiving fast and quit bow. I have a few bows from other great bowyers and still shoot my pronghorn.
Traxx I know that Herb quit taking orders for a while to catch up. He will be back up soon I am sure.
Hey Jeff,
I was gonna ask you,if those limbs in your pic up top, might be familiar?LOL
After breaking a bow last year during the season, I bought a takedown from Wyoming Chief on Tradgang. He shot well with just about any arrow I tried. I killed a spike with it the day after recieving it and two more deer laer on with it. It is the sweetest shooting bow I've ever owned.
In love with mine! Absolutely stable, QUIET, fast and even forgiving in my amateur's hands. Better handling and point-ability than most any bow I've tried. Just like pointing a finger! Light, bulletproof...what can you say? Amazing bows.
I shoot both a three piece and a one piece.
I'm more than pleased with mine. Wouldn't take nothing for my three piece.

I think I'll wander over to Herb's and see how he's faring.
Please don't post any PICS of your Pronghorn bows HINT HINT :) I don't know how some of you can wait so long for a custom bow, I'm having a hard time waiting just a few days :help: :campfire: :coffee:
3 piece-love it my go-to stick
shot a big jack with it last week and it was sooooo pretty watching a cedar fly that nicely. Agree grip seems unimportant to the bow, pull and shoot.
The best bow I have ever shot and Herb is the best guy to deal with hands down!!!!!!!!
As stated earlier a wonderfully shooting bow from a very good guy indeed. He was extremely helpful with the multitude of questions I had before placing a final order. She performed well in Africa, check the avatar.
Pictures OK, I'll start off just as a tease. My Pronghorns are working class bows kinda like Great Northerns. Their looks don't normally turn peoples heads...But they sure are forgiving and easy to hold on target. Most of mine are spray painted hunting bows period!
Martha Stewart Turkey Pronghorn 56" 50#@28. Small enough to maneuver easily and weight on low end of my comfort scale for less movement. With gillie suite I'm actually sitting on the ground...still easy to shoot :D Doc

Looks like your a Pronghorn fan LOL....... Thanks for the tease guys.
Excellent bow.... good shooter, quiet and nice looking. Mine is a 62" 1-piece, 51 lbs. Great hunting bow.
Don't get me wrong in thinking they aren't pretty bows. As you can see I like 'em enough to have a back up to Martha :) Plus I leave one bow at our cottage in Maine...yep a Pronghorn! Doc

traxx has been really nuts shooting his recurve-friends don't let friend shoot recurves! He says he'll be back in 4 days. Sage grouse next weekend and blue grouse this weekend. he needs that Pronghorn
Tippit, I just got a replacement 3 pc.for the one I traded you. [looks like you paintd the limbs on that one] the new one is from Matty 62" 59#@28 shoots great and compliments the 2 one piece ones I have.
By the way, everyone that sees the knife you made me wants one I just tell them to 'Keep on Wanting". Had a Beautiful arm guard made that keeps "Little Razor" real secure.
Gene
I've got a one piece pronghorn 60"longbow 60# @28" that I'm willing to sell If interested pm me. Great shooting bow fast and quiet.
You guys are bad bad bad. Im still waiting patiently for mine, been on order for 6 months.1pc 66"54@30. Shouldnt be too much longer...PR
I have a takedown. Shoots where ya point. Very forgiving for a short bow. It's well worth the wait..
I just talked to Mr. Meland the other night. Super nice guy and very helpful. I ended up ordering one of his 3 piece takedown longbows 50# @27" 60" long with a grey actionwood riser with red accent strip and limbs to match. Now I just have to patiently wait the four months to play with it. If any of you guys have any pics. of this riser/limb combo please post. I would love to see it. Thanks.
Fritz,
I sent a PIC of mine to your E-mail address. Yours will look just like mine.
Mike
My Pronghorn (1st and only stick bow)is a 60", 54# @28". I bought it second hand and in top condition. I intend to shoot my first trad bow hog and/or deer with it this Thanksgiving!
