Found out what Brace Height means tonight and how to check it so I decided to check my bow with Flemish string. It was suppose to be 7" but was 6".
Next step was to reserch how to fix and you guys came through again.
Other things I learned tonight thanks to you folks:
Dacron stretches more than I though it would
Make sure you don't unwind your flemish string when making adjustments
Brand new strings need to be checked for correct brace height Naive me thought you just put it on the bow and start flinging arrows
I've never had anyone teach me anything about trad bows until I came here. All of my efforts have been by trial and error until now. The info here is priceless to me.
your right Duane there is some priceless information here!
i mark my brace height on several of my arrows, that way i can check it when im out shooting.
Pac, the title of your thread means that you have learned enough to realize that you need to learn more. I do that every time I log in here. :readit:
The beauty and the frustration of archery is that you will never know it all. Glad to have you along on this trip!

Life is an ongoing learning process. I just turned 60 and I still learn something new every day. As I heard in a western one time. "Take it slow and easy, you'll get a more harmonious outcome". :D
Biggie,

I did drop mine but used the 3 second rule :-)
Biggie has a 3 second rule- the rest of us use the 5 second rule....wonder if it's just cause he quicker than I am?
I think I've actually used a 15 second rule a few times...
Pac,
Walked into this camp about a year ago as a nube and stayed on ever since. I'm starting to stink but they still let me sit by the fire. Learned plenty from these gents but still so much more.

Depends on the donut. Better donuts get more seconds.
My only rule is: If the thought of eating the object off of whatever surface doesn't cause me to wince... I figure time (more or less)wont hurt it none!
Don't ask me how I developed this "system" But if you ever- wince, gag or otherwise show an unfavorable reaction to eating something, never, never, never and I mean NEVER, eat it!
It was a tough lesson to learn
