This topic may have been beaten to death but here goes...I have been mulling over the idea of getting a pop up blind. I looked at Double Bull but I have a hard time justifying $400.00 for a blind that is probably too short for a long bow anyway. Any one willing to share any experiences or suggestions concerning pop up brands? I am always interested in Tradgang members advice. Thanks for your help....Cotton
Take a look at this one.. I've been looking at this one myself..
Eastman Outfitters™ UnderCover™ LX5 blind
Overall dimensions: 84L x 84W x 72H inches
Base dimensions: 64L x 64W inches
Hub style frame system
Timber Illuzion™ pattern camouflage
I have shot a 64" and also my 66" Hills out of my DB Matrix 360, standard blind. I shot a deer last year out of it with my 64" Hill, I have tried some other brands but IMO you can't beat the DB.
I have the taller recurve model DB and an ameristep brickhouse. No comparison at all. The DB is the one I use and the other one stays at home. I also bought my DB with the light weight carbon poles. I had one with the fiberglass poles and they're too heavy. I think the carbon poles setup easier too. Whatever you get, make sure it has the black interior. I can shoot any of my longbows out of the recurve model blind without any problems.
Yukon Tracks Enforcer or Enforcer Elite. 80" tall, 7 feet square, hub-type quick and easy setup. Much cheaper than DB. The Elite has lower windows, a plus for archery.
I've got the Ameristep Big House. It's a full 7 feet tall, with plenty of room to shoot any bow. It's also a hub style, so goes up, and down easy, and is way cheaper then the DB. I've tried other, shorter blinds, but I can't shoot a longbow out of them without hitting the tips of the bow on something. I want to consentrate on the shot, and not how I have to hold the bow to keep it from hitting the blind. Maybe some can shoot a longbow out of a shorter blind, but I can't. :archer:
Thanks for the opinions. I value them more than you know! Cotton
Ok, I will give you my opinion, I have used Ameristep, Double Bull Tall Model, and Eastman Outdoors. Without a doubt double bull is the best, but at $400 it should be. All have great customer service, if a pole breaks call the company and they will send you a new pole. I was at Sams yesterday and they have an eastman for 150 that is the size of a small garage.
With my double bull I put it out the first week of season 2 years ago, within one week field mice had eaten the entire bottom, (I assume field mice, I actually never saw them) I left it out the entire season after that, rain, sleet, snow etc. I sent it to Double Bull after season and they repaired it for I think $125.
From what I can tell, Turkeys don't care what blind you are sitting in as long as you can shoot your bow out of. The other thing I have noticed, is whiteails in MO you have to brush it in so much they don't care what kind of blind it is either, just as long as you can shoot your bow out of it.
currently I have 2 ameristep choice blinds, I can shoot my 62" recurve out of it, if I am in the back corner.
LX-5 Undercover. Just about the same as the Yukon blinds. About $160 and set-ups easy, packs and carries easy. Good blind.
Thank you again...I am a high school History teacher and I have given my life to teaching...I am certainly not opposed to learning! Teach me Oh wise ones!!! Cotton
I have an ameristep hub blind and a Double Dull Dark Horse. The dimensions are supposedly the same, but the shape of the top makes the Double Bull much more roomier. I can shoot my 64" longbow out of it but I struggle to shoot a 62" recurve out of the Ameristep...It doesn't really matter because the ameristep broke on me during turkey season. There is no comparison between the two as far as quality goes, plus the double bull sets up quieter, faster and doesn't rattle in the wind. I have a bunch of blinds in the last ten or twelve years...enough money spent on junk, that could have gotten me a couple more Double bulls. Just my two cents...your mileage may vary..

I too have an ameristep BIG HOUSE i have not seen it agin for sale, i love how big it is. I take two fold up lawn chairs for me and the boy and still have room to step up and shoot my 60in. long bow and i stand 6'2. the only thing i wish it was made out of the same material as a double bull blind. It going on its 3rd year and still going strong for 179.00
