Here is the great Colorado bull that Ringneck harvested on opening day...only took him three hours on public land!
Congratulations to him, and I will leave the story for him to tell...

I had a great hunting companion! It started out on the wrong foot as the alarm clock decided to quit working during the night. Kyle said not to worry and told me to get a head start walking. My flatlander lungs don't handle the low oxygen levels very well. We spoted a couple of cows in the meadow above but they saw us and vanished into the timber. We decided to work up into the timber adjacent to the cows. We cow called a bit as we slowly moved up into the timber. I paused when reaching close to the top and let kyle catch up to me so I could figure out what he wanted to do. He had been holding back behind me to call. We decided to move across to the next ridge and started walking. Just then a bull let out a bugle and we dove for cover. He was close! Within seconds he was less than 30 yards away and frozen like a statue facing us. After what seemed like years the bull walked towards kyle who was 20 yards or so to my left and he stopped directly in front of me at 20-25 yards. Kyle did a few soft cow calls and kept the bulls attention on him. I had a clear shot between two trees and took the shot. I pulled back the 50 pound Great Plains bow and let the arrow go. The 640 grain Arrow Dynamics trad heavy tipped with a 160 grain Grizzly with 100 grain adapter went where I was looking. I thought I missed at first due to the light playing tricks with my eyes. The arrow showed otherwise and the bull tensed at the shot. The bull snapped the arrow off as he turned with his leg. Hooves pounding and then crashing sounds were heard for a short time and then silence. After waiting a bit we carefully followed the trail and Kyle saw the bull piled up above the trail just 60 yards from where I shot him. The arrow had gone in the left side and poked out the other side. It was a great time and my first animal with traditional equiptment. I couldn't be more proud and was glad to have Kyle be a part of this memory that will last forever! How sweet it is :campfire:
