it was a great day to be in the woods, not so good if you were to live by what ya shot. :readit: Squrries score, hunters get the goose egg! i missed a tree rat twice! :knothead: VERY warm and the bugs were bad, i knew headed to the woods this morning it would be tuff as it is still very thick and warm. still a great day to be alive! :archer:

I love squirrel hunting, there's just something about it that gets my blood flowin', just being in the woods. I don't like heat and bugs though, I'll wait till it gets chilly here in Michigan. :archer:

Perfect day down here, cool and fallish. Season isn't in yet, though, so you guys win! Saw tons of squirrels playing chasetail and grabnapple, which kept Spirit amused. Wish I could have been up there with y'all, though, nothing like a good chuckle over a treerat's escape!
Killdeer

A great day to be alive, indeed. And what a motley looking crew in that photo...

Shouldn't talk that way about your friend, Chris. :D

-
good luck on the treerats guys.

My son and I made it out after the squirrels today too. Saw zero squirrels (heard some shooting going on though) but 7 deer. We wore out a few stumps too.
We saw a couple of shotgun guys in full camo way before they noticed us in our shorts and t-shirts and stuff. The saw our bows and reminded us that 'only thing open is squirrels, fellas'.
Lol - good to know.

Sounds like a good day out to me! Thanks for sharing and it is good to see the War Dog again!
-
Dont be too hard on yourselves for missing them varmints. If you think thats bad I missed another chuck today at 30 yards and I swear it was big as a beaver.Hope to get out in them hills with you fellas this fall.
-
sounds like you boys had a good time , wish I could have made it  :clapper:
-
Ken, do you guy's have a lot of squirrels out that way? We are kinda thin on them this year, we think the coyotes are getting them to.
-
there is a lot of them but it is still really thick in the woods, very hard to hunt them.
-
Dont blame the coyote for the decline thank your Owls and Hawks . Coyotes seem to get the blame for everything nowadays. :( Art
-
I like to blame the coyotes, for my lack of hunting skill  Seriously Art, I don't see a population explosion in the bird of prey category, but I know that the coyote is a cunning hunter that knows how to survive and flourish in our area. Whatever the case the population has really declined since last year, this bums me out because this is Joe's first hunting season and I really want to keep him interested in hunting, but it gets pretty tough when the game is not there.
