Luckily it didn't burn the house down, never gave a thought to a battery bein dangerous stored in the spare bedroom. Guess it wouldn't have been if I kept my "stuff" organized!
Scary. Gotta watch everything I guess.
Oh Yea, we had one of our work vans just about catch fire, a romex staple got across a loose 18v cordless drill battery.
Touch a 9V battery to a pad of steel wool, be ready cause it should turn orange real quick!
Eric
Ever put a battery in your pocket with a bunch of change? Little ones (1.5) get pretty warm, a 9-volt will put a burn on you. Don't ask how I know...
Wow Kenny, Thats scary glad you are all right.

That's what those little plastic caps are for. Lots of energy in one of those little cans. :D
Lord was looking after you on that one....
FREEMAN,,, I know what ya mean ...
I figured you had a new way of hot melting tips on.
A 9 volt battery and steel wool should be in your hunting pack.( separated of course ) Makes a great emergency firestarter. :D
Dang!!
Here's another surprise. My mother had a small magnifying glass in a cup with some pens and pencils, this was on her desk by the phone. She's had these items there for some time but the glass must have turned just so and sunlight coming through a nearby window, hit the magnifying glass and burned a spot on the nearby paneling. Quite a deep spot I might add !!! Once again, lucky it didn't burn the house down.
Luckily no damage!
Lesson learned I bet

I also recently found out another good firestarter. Nacho cheese dorito's......... yeah it sounds stuipid. A co-worker read about it in a magazine. MAke a great firestarter. They burn very slow and stay lit. Just another stupid fact I know :knothead:
Ahh, job security. I've been a professional firefighter/paramedic for 9+ years now. I'd say the majority of the house fires I've been to have included poor houskeeping. I'm glad it didn't get any bigger on you. Keep safe.

Been there...burned that.
I can confirm the 9V battery in the pocket full of change can get mighty HOT.
