It's a Critter Getter Special, 58"er with the copperheads and moose antler overlays. Osage riser which is my favorite. Should be here next week. It's so sharp looking that I had to show it off. :)
Show off!! I don't blame you! That is deffinitely sharp!

Hey Trap, what finish do you have over your skins? Very nice!

Very, very nice, Ron! That's one sharp looking takedown, for sure.
I killed a copperhead on the edge of my yard a few weeks ago which measured 39 3/4" long with the head. I have it dried and waiting for the next one for a set. I keep a golf club in the back of my pickup just in case I see one crossin' the roads.
I like'um too.....

Nice hog, Guru. Nice skins on your bow too. I like diamond back skins, but the copperheads are my favorites. I believe they're a bit harder to come by too.
i wish i had a skinned bow, copperheads are my favorite as well

wow, neat stuff. I used Tru Oil over the skins Ed. They will need to be toned down a little with steel wool.
Trap
Morrison does a great job with the snake skins, no doubt and he's had lots of practice.
The absolutely best skin job I've ever seen on a bow was a Great Northern Ghost. I saw it up at denton hill in 07. I probably would have bought that bow if the poundage had been more in line with what I wanted. The skins were so smoothly finished, it was like they were under a super thin layer of glass. I've never seen any done as nice as that since.
I'll take your scraps if you can't find anything to do with them !

Gentlemen, those are some fine looking bows with those copperhead skins on them ;) I think I may have to eventually get me a nice recurve with some on it  Craig
I put these on a bow yesterday, still have to trim and finish them.

I was just reading this thread and was thinking about your bows Eric. How would you go about putting skins on a glass bow? I have a Horne Combo Hunter I'd like to dress up a bit.
You still want to try to catch some up here? It would be cool to back a bow with something caught on your own land. Plus that would mean two less snakes up here! :bigsmyl:
I was just getting rady to ask..... I have a Hoyt take down recurve. How hard would it be to put skins of some kind on it? WHo would do it? Thanks, Craig
That was my last matched set of copperheads John. I have a few western diamond backs and timber rattlers put back.
The skin in the picture still has scales wich makes it pretty dull. I took them off this afternoon, WOW, what beautiful skins.
Really fantastic lookin' bow, Ed. Your skins look wonderful. Send us some shooting impressions when it arrives. Good luck.
Man of all the snake skins that I have seen the copper heads are my all time fav. Just outstanding.
Oberon
Eric, your bow looks like two snakes getting ready to swallow each other! :) Very cool!
I'm glad you posted copperheads; I'm thinking of giving my son a PSE Sequoia for his birthday, dressing it up with copperheads. What do you think? btw, does the draw weight change with the skin addition? Thanks!!
nice bows
No change in the draw weight that I'm aware of.
There is a "how to" on putting skins on a glass bow. It was on pow-wow but was probably moved to the How To forum.
John,
I don't wish for poisonuous snakes here, but I would also like to collect my own snake skins to put on my bows. That would be really cool!
Here is my Widow PLX I skinned not too long ago....

will trade a set of diamond back rattler skins for a set of copperheads...in a heartbeat
They all look beautiful but I could just see me forgetting it is my bow laying on the ground and trying to kill it with a stick.
I wonder if cotton mouth skins would work?? :campfire:
