Title: Opening Day!!!!
Post by: tarponnut on August 29, 2008, 09:02:00 PM
Finally, it's here tomorrow, Opening day(in the Everglades) of deer season that is.
The weather man is calling for winds 10-20mph and periodic rain, I'm going anyway!
Wind means few if any "swamp angels" buzzing around, rain means instant air conditioning.
My wife asked what time I was getting up?
"3:30 am of course!",she just shook her head.
I feel like a kid on Christmas eve.
Good luck to all of my trad brothers and sisters
this coming season.

10-20 MPH around here means a celebration.  Our skeeters evolved with longer slimmer profiles to make flying in the avg 35 mph wind second nature.

I saw about 20 deer today! I had several does right under my stand but no bucks(one button buck). In my area, it's bucks only, 5" antler or more. The nutrition is so poor I actually have seen quite a few spikes under 5" in years past.

I was checked for my license by a female conservation officer that was really cute
(nice bonus!)

It was great to be out again "watching the show".
Deer were still moving at least until 1:00pm when I had to head out.I'll be out again tomorrow, wind and rain and all.
