I'm sitting in a hotel lobby in southern Colorado. In a couple of hours we will have the groceries purchased, truck gassed up, and will start up the dusty road to the top of a mountain in New Mexico. Two weeks of bliss, camping with my wife. She's a gem, and will let me chase the bulls for a few hours each morning. I have promissed to spend plenty of camp time with her the rest of the days. :wavey:
Joe Have a great time good luck,go slow for a couple of days but unlike me you have long legs so will be easier.Take care Kip Will you hunt with some stone?
Heading out with the boy next door as soon as he gets out of school today for some muley. Struck-out a couple of weeks ago. Gonna climb higher this outing and hope to find one.
Whip, you've already found great success having a wife that will go with you!
Best,
Quinn
Best of luck and lots of pics Joe!
Have the best trip ever Joe!
The Gang at The Ryegrass ranch. :wavey:
Sounds perfect! Well if you add a bull hanging in camp that would top it off...
OK! For all of us sitting at home - after the hunt comes the stories - I am waiting.
Good luck and hunt safe!
Yep, "the hay is in the barn" as they say, for most all of the preparation has taken place as we eagerly await another long anticipated Elk season. Many sacrifices along the way both physical and financial but it is worth it when you are fortunate enough to see, smell, hear and or taste the mighty Elk. I can tell by the posts that the calm frenzy is alive in both those who are writing in and in those who are reading it. It seems we all share an insightful glimpse into the power that the hunt holds for each of us. It is simply awesome. Good luck, stay safe and let us know of your journey this season.

Well as of today I'm trading places with Joe here in New Mexico. Got a call from the big guy this morning as he was headed home and I was headed to the airport. Joe has a good story with a happy ending to tell! Stay tuned...
Nebraska motel at the moment doesn't give me time to tell a proper story, so I guess that will have to wait. There will be one to follow later this week though - I promise! :readit:
Good luck Norb!
Hope it was a wonderful trip Joe! I can't wait to hear the stories. - Jay
good for you buddy!!
Way to go Whip. Gonna be elk meat in camp at the cabin? See you there in a few short weeks.
The edge of my seat is starting to get uncomfortable.... :biglaugh:
Hope you had a great time and looking foward to the story!!!
Talked with Joe this morning and he was on the road somewhere in NE, maybe even driving across Iowa about now, so no story till late this evening at the earliest. All I can say is that there is a story to follow.
And will he stay home till our St Jude donation hunt in three weeks? No. The silly wabbit is mowing the yard once, taking out the trash and jetting off to BC to chase moose in the interim.
Give it up joe!.....precongrats I hope
No fair baiting Joe...baiting "US" I mean...
Get em Joe! I packed you something special in your pack. :bigsmyl:
