I got a cheap wildview about a year and a half ago and it has been out in the woods the whole time. I just change batteries and switch cards. I had it set up on a feeder and the pics were just fine. I got it as a test to see if it would get stolen. Now the flash is gone and I don't think it can be fixed / replaced, without alot of cash for mailing ect. Probably not worth it anyway.
I think I am going to upgrade with a Moultrie game spy. I guess my question is when the flash shoots crap in these cameras are they done?

Don't get one with a flash, the batteries don't last long and people can find your camera from seeing the flash.
I am currently doing a study using Game Cameras and camera trap technology-and many of the cameras we have used failed due to the poor construction and design in the most adverse conditions. Im talking about Panama here! The more "expensive" cameras did not hold up as well as the wally-world 100-150$ units. My brother and i were brought into this study because our experence with trapping/tracking/hunting and camera use to monitor and manage game species. Had they asked us at the start we could have saved them $1000's in equiptment, and time.
when you do get a good camera, get a lock box for it, get one with that has infrared no flash, get rechargeable batteries with a solar charger. Moultree is good with their service and make a sturdy unit. One of the biggest features they had was the waterproof gasket. A good many of the "expensive" cameras taken to Pamama did not last a week because of the poor design and water shutting down the whole unit. When these things are tested, they failed to take it to extremes.
I love the Moultrie d-40's, and they cost under $100.
You might contact Wildview and see if they'll fix or replace, couldnt hurt to ask.
