Fellow TradGangers,

I just wanted to let you all know that my 2nd album,  Nights Like This, is now available!

Like the first album, you will find songs that speak to the soul of the outdoorsman. I have paid tribute to a few of my heroes in songs like  The Pathfinder  (Jay Massey),  The Last Wild Man  (Bart Schleyer) , and  The Longhunters Tale  (based on the images of Ron LaClair in Marian Anderson's paintings) .

You will also find more of my campfire philosophy in songs like I Hunt ,Nights like This ,and Bloodlines

You can hear all the songs mentioned above in their entirety, as well as a minute or so of all the songs from both albums at my website,  www.myspace.com/thesingingbowyer (http://www.myspace.com/thesingingbowyer)  You can purchase directly from that site, or  www.thesingingbowyer.com (http://www.thesingingbowyer.com)

For those of you computer-minded folks, all of these songs are available for download at my website, Itunes, and Walmart.com.

I appreciate the support that so many of you have shown for my music and the articles I have written for  The Bowyers Journal and  Primitive Archer. I hope you enjoy the new music as well!

Your music goes where I go, Chad.
That retired, old trucker/trapper is makin his way around the country, still! Or is that, again?
Headed to myspace for the preview...Happy Trails, My Friend.

Good luck out there in Oregon, Derek!

Billy, I hope you and I both can retire someday and become a couple of "Rookie Trappers"...

I have a song about trapping on the new album called "The Longline" where I mention my other favorite trapper--Charles Dobbins... What a fella, and what a writer!

Been so dang busy, forgot this was coming out...just ordered mine, thanks Chad.

The fall food plots are coming up on my property in OH and my lease in WV. The deer are fat and plentiful. Hope you get a chance to get back this way like you mentioned. I'll have some stands waiting for you...

I had the PLEASURE of hearing Chad sing all these songs live as well as music from the first CD at the Hawkeye rendezvous a couple of weekends ago.
There is no better music that speaks to the heart and soul. Right After the show I purchased this CD but missed out on getting the first one before it sold out!  Excellent selection of songs Chad. Even my 19yr old son enjoys it.  LOL  Thats a hard thing to accomplish now adays.

Been listening to this one non-stop since the Tennessee Classic. Even just today on my ride home from work, in fact. There are several "chill bumpers" on this album.

If you liked the first one you'll love this one.      :campfire:

Wife got this one for me a couple of weeks ago. Hard to say which CD I like better. Shucks what does it matter, I'll just go listen to them both.

Thanks Chad for the great music.

My daughter wants me to learn the words and chords to Pappy's Workshop.  She was asking a ton of questions about the "legend."

I also really liked "I'm not going into the ground until my time."  I can't get that bluesy melody out of my head.

Thanks, Glenn. I am planning on doing an album called "Appalachian Memories" sometime next year, and it will have "Ain't Goin Down In The Ground" on it....

Here are the words to "Pappy's Workbench". I play it in F(D if you capo the 3rd)...

Pappys Workbench

VS1
Set low in a valley
Between two hills in Tennessee
Sets a cabin and a workshop
Built from lumber scraps and one man's dream

Giving people a place where
They can escape the race
And learn an ancient skill
From a bearded southern gent

And carved on a board are the words
"Welcome to Pappy's Workbench"

VS 2
People come from all around
Just to meet this special man
And to craft a bow and arrow
With his guidance and their own two hands

They may come for just a bow
But they leave with something more I know
Then they ever thought that they might get
Cause he helps to shape more than just a stick

There on Pappy's Workbench

Bridge
Chasing dreams and growth rings
'Til all hours of the night
Raising toasts to those we've lost
By the glow of the campfire light

And as the shavings fall
I know we all are better men
For the time we've spent
Finding answers in a good piece of wood
There on Pappy's Workbench

VS 3
Now I've never been what most folk
Might call a religious man
But I know when I am in the presence
Of something greater than I am

You know it seems to me
Sometimes it's the simple things
That can take us
Where we need to go

And I have seen
What it can do to men's souls
This little place that must be heaven sent

Pappy's Workbench

--And yes, HE IS A LEGEND!

Chad,
This was the first time that I had heard your music. I've wish I had listened sooner, it is great! Played my red cedar High Spirits flute along with "The Longhunter". I really enjoyed it even though I'm limited with the notes I can play, it added a neat sound to it in certain areas of the song. I hope to order the cd soon.

Funny thing is,I have a friend in FL who I wanted to play native flute on that track but we just couldn't get together....

I hope to incorporate some flute on the next album, though!

Thanks for listening!

Well, I only have half of the next album written....and since it is almost hunting season, it will probably not be done until next summer or so..

I have to squeeze a Appalachina-based gospel album in there, too-- I can't put the Big Hunter In The Sky's music on hold much longer...
