Title: A Tale of Two Whisperstik bows.
Post by: EASTERNARCHER on August 27, 2008, 09:14:00 AM
Well as some of you know, I just had a great trip to Niagra Falls, NY. Visist with family and pick up some stuff including my MojoStik from Whisperstik bows.....Well 4 days before I was to leave, JD called my work and had bad news   :scared:   ....my bow had delaminated at the fade. Apparently the ebony used was greener than we all thought!   :banghead:

JD felt horrible and couldn't apologize enough. Geez, I felt worse for him than for the bow. And we decided to work out a solution.

Well before I could ask "What do we do now" JD says not to worry, I'll build you a new bow right away...You pick your woods and I'll get started. THEN he says..."Ya know I got some nice burl here that would look awesome, how about that?" Well he sent me pics of the wood(Eucylyptus Burl)It was real pretty, and since I wanted this as my hunting bow, I opted to keep the Cocobolo riser and put the burl in the flare. I also opted for Gaboon ebony accent strips along the flare.

Together, we decided to change the Cocobolo limb veneers to Juniper heartwood.

The new bow still has bamboo cores.....Well, JD called again yesterday to say the bow is finished and should ship out today! It'll take a week or two to reach me.   :clapper:

Yeah, he's a class act for sure. They don't come any better than JD Lund in my book.

The bows are pretty special, too    ;)    :D    ;)    :D

Nice bow! I spoke with JD on the phone yesterday, he sure seems like a top notch fella! I really love the looks of his bows and I'm thinking of putting my name on the list for a Vodoo!

jd is great.i coludn't get used to his standard grip,so i ask if he could switch it to an asbell grip.he said he would give it a try.what he came up with is great.fits my hand like a glove.
when i ask jd how much i owed him,he said,"no charge".can you believe that!
my next bow will definitely be a whisperstik.

None of this surprises me. JD is a great bowyer and a great friend. I look forward to the time we'll spend at the campfire this year.  :campfire:

I agree with all, he falls over backwards to please everyone. If you have never tried a whisperstik you owe it to your self to give J.D. a call.
