I have built some 5/16 cedar shafts they shoot great from my selfbow have 125gr field points. I have been shooting Zwickey Deltas for a long time but they don't seem to fit well. They are loose at the back of the head. I have not glued them that might take care of. The new Zwickey says it will fit all shafts I wander if the old Deltas should to. Does anyone shoot 5/16? Or know of a 125gr head that works well?
Tom
Most carbons are 5/16" or less in diameter, and folks use regular 11/32" ferrule broadheads without any problems. Glue them up, they should work fine.
You know what? After I posted I got off my butt and glued one on. It works fine.
I wondered the same thing back in 2001 when I switched to ICS carbons. You're not alone. ;)

But it's just 115gr.
You might want to look at Eclipse 125's they fit my 5/16 very well.
I shoot 5/16 and 11/32 tapered to 5/16. All sizes of Grizzlies fit very well, as do STOS.
Both Zwickey and Magnus make a 110gn. head to fit the 5/16 taper. As Bjorn said the Grizzlies and STOS fit well on the 5/16 taper.

All the 11/32 tapered shafts I have shot were 11/32 on the point and 5/16 on the nock. But you are right my Zwickeys fit verry well. I have been thinking about trying the 125gr Grizzly's.
Tom, I am talking about 11/32 tapered to 5/16 at both ends, these are hunting tapered shafts; 9 in taper at the nock and 5 inch taper at the point.
I use many sizes of Grizzlies and STOS and they all fit well.
Tom, the 115 Black Diamonds are the way to go when using a 5/16 shaft, the fit is much better than using a broadhead with a lager ferrell. The lager ferrell will work but you will have to take extra care to get them aligned properly.
