I am going to buy my first pair of boots for hunting. I am in upstate New York and will be hunting from a blind.. My buddy recommends rubber boots like LaCrosse with 1000gr Thinsulate. I notice that price varies from $60 to $160. I saw a pair of LaCrosse 1000gr insulated PAC'S at an Army Navy store for about $50. What would you recommend? Thanks!
If you saw a pair of 1000 gr. Thinsulate insulated Lacrosse PACs for $50, and they have em in your size....buy as many pairs as you can get for that price cause that is a stone cold steal.
First of all get you some good socks, you need to have them before the boots, so you can wear them when you try the boots on. If the boots are too tight and you can't wiggle your toes, your feet will get cold no matter how much insulation you have. LaCrosse are very good boots and usually the brand I buy in all rubber and all rubber is the best if you are just walking to a blind or in rain or snow. The rubber will help keep your scent inside and not all over the ground. 1000gr, is a lot, but I don't know how much time you will be spending in the blind and in how cold of weather or how far you will be walking and if your feet get cold its tough to stay still or in the blind.

Take a look at Mucks. They have rubber bottoms with neoprene uppers for very easy off and on...plus they're light, warm, and fairly priced.
$50 bucks for Lacrosse...you better jump on those...
