Title: Glove suitable for deep hook?
Post by: Tom Anderson on August 23, 2008, 10:27:00 PM
Can anyone recommend a shooting glove that would be suitable for a deep hook draw?...that is, has plenty of padding on up to about the middle knuckle.

I use the deep hook draw and I just started using a Damascus glove (instead of a tab) and like it a lot. Seems to have plenty of padding to me. There might be a better glove out there, but this is the only one I have any experience with.

Skookum glove is what I'm using now. I have also used Damascus with no trouble. I'm sure the Dura glove from 3Rivers would be fine as well. $19

Try out 3Rivers Dura-Glove.

I've used the Damascus for years with no problems at all.(nut)

I use a damascus worn backwards. If I wear it the right way with a deep hook, the edge of the double leather finger tip interferes slightly with the string on release.

Contact the people at Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear in Arvada Colorado. They will make a glove to our hand measurement and make the finger stalls any way you wish. They are making two for me now  with full length leather. You can also send them a tracing of your hand and they will make it to your size.
