Hey all I'm trying to find someone out there who might have need of a bow.
Now before everyone thinks that I'm just giving away one of my bows to whoever, I want eveyone to know that this is the bow that got me back into Trad shooting and it means a bit more to me than that.
This bow is meant for someone that truly NEEDS a bow to hunt, hard times, financial problems, whatever.
I have a few longbows that I use primarily, and don't plan on using anything else, thus the reason for this post.
I know times are a bit tough right now, and I want to try to help someone else out as I have been helped in the past.
The bow that I have is a Martin Hatfield Takedown, 55#@28". Now it's a bit older, limb bolt model, and has a few dings on it, but it shoots every bit as good as the first day I bought it.
I really hope that I can find someone that I can help out a bit in these tough times.
I don't have any pictures of the bow right now, but I will take some tomorrow and add them to this post.
Charlie, Stringstretcher, and I will be going through the return posts to make a decision so if you have any questions, feel free to IM either one of us.
Take care,
Keith

My daughter broke the tip off of her bow and has needed one since. I told her I would try to find her another one but I'm disabled and can't afford a new bow. She could really use it. Also she has no trouble shooting a 55# bow. She shoots my Martin Hunter quite well, it is 55# @ 28" also. Thank you for considering her.

Jus think need to clarify myself, This bow is NOT for sale.

Keith,
What a most generous thing you are doing here.
Good on you, Buddy!
And I don't fit your criteria as to need, so I am not asking to be considered.
You are a credit to our sport!

Magnanimous act!

I should have added this last night when I origianally posted, but whoops.
The only thing that I ask of whoever gets the bow is for them to pass it on to someone else that may be in need when things get better for them.
Thanks,
Keith

Once again this site shows me why I'll be a Trad Ganger for life. I hope this bow brightens the life of someone who really "needs" it.
Good for you Keith. Karma never hurt!

Great thing you are doing. I have a left handed reflex deflex longbow that one of my foster kids (I'm an attorney and represent many foster kids in child protective services cases - I put bows and guns in their hands !!! responsibly of course) used until a friend donated a lighter recurve to him. Same deal, someone who needs it and willing to pass it along. B Hill 94-381-3688

Don't be bashfull. We all have had times when in need. I know Keith, and this is just the way he is. Saw him riding his motorcycle on day with no shirt on, said he lived up to the saying of "giving the shirt off his back".

We need more people like you in this world. :clapper:

Well I haven't received very many responses, so this might not be as difficult as I thought it would be.
I will leave it posted for a few more days before I announce the winner.

I received a personal message from someone with two neighborhood kids who were lefties asking about my bow donation. I am computer illiterate and thought I sent message. Sorry. If you sent this message (or anyone else interested ) please call me at 940-381-3688 or cell 940-367-1820 about this bow if interested. Bhill

I have a friend that has a 10 year old son batteling lukemia. Matt enjoys shooting a bow and wants one of his own but just about every nickle he makes goes towards treatment for his son. I know he wouldn't ask for himself so I am.
This is his son's website

Awesome.
Hi folks, I am new to the Trad gang site, but not to trad bows. Haven't been shooting as much as I like the last five years or so (job change & kids in college).
So the first thing I read is this thread & know why I have missed traditional archers. Well done indeed! I think I am going to have to see if I have a bow or two I might be able to part with.
Definitely like the "pay-it-forward" criteria. Anyone else out there game?
Blessings to you all.

way to go man,you will be rewarded 100 fold for this act. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Ok everyone, Charlie and I have put our noggins together and come up with a new home for the bow.
I received a PM fromcpnhgnlngct (Matt) regarding his best friend, Curtis Carothers. Simply stated, these 2 guys are very lucky to have friends like eachother.
Matt told me that Curt is having a very difficult time with his home situation, and he's only 24 years old, wish I was as well adjusted when I was 24.
I don't want to get into all of the details of his situation, more personal then what needs to be discussed on here, but suffice it to say, I'm happy with the choice that we have made.
Now Curt is not a member of "the Gang" as of yet, but after speaking with him I'm sure that's right around the corner.
My only regret is that I don't have enough bows to hand out to several of the other people that have posted on here, I really wish I did.
Congradulations to Curt, I know it's going to be in good hands.

A divorce and hard times got me into trad hunting 17 years ago...needed money and traded 1 yr old high country sniper for a ben bearson colt and 100$ ....have shot a recurve ever since ...Keith maybe u just changed this kids life ,,,great job!!!!

Keith and Charlie,
You guys are amazing. The 'gang' ceases to amaze me. Man... that bow is more amazing than I ever imagined. Curt is going to be floored when he sees this thing.
Again, thank you so much guys for your selflessness. I can't wait to get out in the yard with him and his new bow. I will have to get some pictures and post them for you guys.
I can't express my gratitude enough. Thank You!
Shoot them straight.
