Rick, you might give the "Walkstool" a look-see...available in a few different dimensions, folds up pretty small and is well made.

After just spending a weekend in a blind. Stools are not the way to go for me. I tried a swivel stool last year and after only an hour my back hurt and I was uncomfortable. This year I went with a short chair. Reminded me of the short beach chairs. The legs fold under and the backrest folded down it had a strap to make it easy to carry. It was just right for looking out the blind windows. I was comfortable for 6hr stays. I could quickly get to my knees for a shot, and the back fell down and out of the way each time I got off into a shooting position.

Go to Academy or any Sporting goods store and pickup a seat like the ones they use on a tripod, you can get one that the back folds down on with padded seat and back . next go to Walmart and get a plastic 8" step stool. they are gray in color and in House wares I believe. they have a black rubber mat on the top. next get you some 1/4" RHMS,washers and nuts and mount the seat to the step stool. works great, if someone will tell me how to post pictures I will show you one.

I have the regular Double Bull folding seat and I am happy with it. Have not seen the magnum version. I'm a big guy and this seat does all I need it to do. Its got a back rest to which is important to me.

Here's a link. My bud goes 280 and this one fit him well and we sat comfy for long hours in a 2X bull.

I've used old plastic 6 or 7 gallon paint cans that I've painted a camo pattern on. Pretty comfortalble.
I also want to make a Torrges (Sorry about the spelling) tree seat. They are made from plywood and attach to a tree with some knotted rope. Looks very portable and light weight. I know that someone here might have the link on how to build your own.

I prefer a tripod fold up chair with a back rest. The tripod is very nice in uneven terain. The back rest if very nice (I didn't think I would want it)for long sits.

After a couple of hours on my tripod seat(without backrest) my back was killing me, and my legs were going numb from loss of circulation from the tripod....

I just bought a similar 4 legged version with backrest for 9 bucks!!!

Tripod seats. Bah!

I've got another pic somewhere of another tripod I pulverized too.

I'm a pretty big guy but sheesh - that'll give ya a complex.

I use a green resin chair from Home Depot (less than $10).  It's bulky but lightweight and easy to carry to your blind.  The full back and arm rests make things much more comfortable.  I'm 6' 6" and use a 2" cushion to make it a little higher.

I go with what KBE said, I pick up the green plastic chairs at the end of season for about 5 bucks and have 7 in the woods in ground blinds I made up.

I have on the chair a tag I made up saying my name and phone number with a note saying. Please do not remove chiar from this location. I am physically challenged hunter.

So far over the last 10 years have lost a total of 3 chairs that were moved or taken.

Comfort is good but don't forget your hunting.I BOUGHT A nice comfy chair with a back, tried it in the store-seemed good(light and quiet).Took it hunting ,first time I MOVED IT SOUNDED like a bullfrog.Inside the camo nylon was a rubber membrane that reacted a little diferently when cold (LOL).
Did the 7gallon bucket with a snap on seat.Nice height and quiet.I COULD ALSO carry my lunch, small coffee thermos, and put my shedded clothes inside so I wouldn't sweat so much walking up the mountain.Half way up the (HILL) my arm  was dragging the ground,I was so tired by the time I REACHED MY SPOT I had to strip down to bare uppers to cool off for 10 minutes.
Im catching up on seats as compared to the number of bows I've owned. So for all who took the time to read this -DON'T FORGET YOUR HUNTING-.LOL.

I would avoid any kind of tripod seat. All of them I ever tried were ball-mashers! I use the cheapest kind of "director's chair" from Walmart. Get the model without arms, about $8

There was a new one listed in the "New Products" section in the past issue of TBM.  Looks interesting.....

What john said, get the cheapy from Wally with a back on it.  Even or uneven terrain it usually is of no concern.  Comfortable and reliable up to about 250 pounds.

I take mine out of the tote bag they come with and slip it through/under the carrying straps for the blind and go.  I have one I have been using for six years and a few others that made it a season or two.  Good with the not so good.
