Hello to all, I've been thinking about my set up for turkey hunting. While I haven't connected yet with one, I don't want to connect and find out my set up is wrong. I've recently switched back to woodies with a 125 gr 2 blade Zwickey up front. I've got nothing behind the head like some say you need. I've heard from both sides, I guess I'm looking for an informal survey on how you set up your arrows and if it's worked well for you. I'm also thinking about trying the single bevel heads (125 gr) from Eclipse. Thanks for your time.

I guess I should have added that I'm shooting a 45lbs. longbow.

Jeremy, I use a Magnus stinger, 125gr. with an arrow dynamics trad. shaft from a 48lb. recurve. I have used this for a couple years and havent had any complaints.
"Hittenum's" the hard part. Most folks have a favorite accurate all around hunting arrow, broadhead combo for deer, hog, elk or whatever. In developing that favorite arrow -- "flys good!" is step one and (for turkeys), go hunting is step two. I prefer to keep bowhunting as simple as possible.
I shoot woodies too and use either a Mag 1 2-blade or a WW but do not and would not add anything to my arrow to reduce penetration. Example, I shot a nice bird this past spring and hit him in the wing butt as he was strutting (exactly where I was aiming)and the impact nock him over but only penetrated about 5". He ran less than 100yds and expired. I want the most penetration everytime.
Your set up will work fine. Don't worry about shooting through them. It's unlikely, but no problem if you do. Turkeys are relatively light, in relation to deer, for example. When the arrow hits them, there's some give/movement on the bird's part that retards penetration. some folks like to use big three or four blade heads, but I've found that Zwickey eskimos and Magnus II two blades worked well for me. As Deff says, hittingem is the hard part. Put it in the right place and just about any broadhead will do. Good luck.
Have to agree, sharp head through the chest cavity is dead, of course you already knew that.. Good Luck..
My wood arrows have a Ziwckey eskimo or delta on them, my carbon arrows have the same and are glued to a 75grain steel adapter. I might make slight variarions from year to year but both work find out of my bow. Sharp heads..Good shot placement..dead bird..good eaten..
I shoot Woodies and Zwickey Eskimo BroadHeads @ 50 lb. I am Really Considering the Wensel WoodsMen or are they Magnums, for Next Spring!
Those 3 Blades Look like Major Damage to a Turkey, they are a Nice Little Package, just My Opinion of Course.
Thanks for all the advice and feedback. I guess I'm lacking confidence in my equipment. Maybe it's because I haven't connected yet... thanks again and good luck to all this fall.
