Title: Which low stretch material
Post by: Bear Heart on August 18, 2008, 02:49:00 PM
I am going to try making my own strings soon.  There are so many fast flight type materials out there that I am totally lost.  What should I get?  Why such a wide range of prices?

I haven't tried them all, but I like D-97.  A little less noisy than BCY 450 or 8125, at least on my longbows.

Like Orion said, and I'll also throw in TS+. Both are stable and quiet on my longbows as well.

I'm partial to Dynaflight '97.  If you like a smaller diameter string, 8125 works well.

I prefer and like D97 myself also and you can get it in 375' ft rolls and 1/8# spools and of course 1/4# spools. The 375' ft and 1/8# spools cost from $12 to $18 each if you are not planning on making a whole lot of strings. The 1/4# spools usally run around $30.

I think TS+ is the quietest but 8125 is the fastest. At least thats what I have seen from my tinkering anyways.
