Title: Bow arm slap....
Post by: skippy1 on August 18, 2008, 10:17:00 AM
I am experiencing bow arm slap.  I twisted the string up and down to find the quite spot, but it hits my arm. I shoot a recurve and it is set at 7 1/4" now. Is there anything that i can do to help aleviate the slap?

You can open up your stance so that you face the target a bit more.

Also, try holding your bow with your top two fingers and thumb only while tucking your bottom two fingers back into your palm.

Just a couple ideas,

a little bend in elbow?  roll hand on grip?  Those are typical causes.

Thanks for the ideas, I already hold my bow by my thumb and index fingers, right in the crook of my hand.  I will have to try opening up my stance though.  Thanks again

If your elbow is rigid you will hit your arm. Try bending your elbow a bit and see if that helps.  Pat

After gripping the bow, rotate your elbow out. Also, as said before, open up your stance.
