Hello, I will be moving to the Steubenville, Ohio area in the next few weeks. Was wondering if there are any traditional clubs in the area that I could join? Thanks.
Ohio!! Greatest state in the nation.
Look up Mike Ballash of the Geauga Bowmen Trad Archery Club in Chesterfield,Ohio.Geauga County.Great people.Had a great time at their turkey shoot this past April.Mike is a member on Trad Gang. You will find more info under trad events on this website.

Shawn,
Welcome to Ohio!
The Ohio Society of Traditional Archers can always use new members! The state shoot will be in Jackson Ohio soon. Check out the OSTA website for info.
I don't think the Geauga bowmen would be too far away from you as far as local clubs go.
You might want to contact Mike or as he is known on here bowmofo. I believe he is up in your neck of the woods.
I'm over in Galion Ohio near Mansfield, probably 2 1/2 to 3 hrs away.
Also, I will be setting up the 2nd annual Ohio Traditional Deer hunt from the 5th-9th of November, which is not too far from Stubenville. Maybe an hour and a half away.
Take care,
-Charlie
Shawn,
I grew up just accross the river from there. There arent any Trad clubs there. However, there is a really cool archery club just up the road. Sherwood Archery Club. I know there are quite a few trad shooters there.
You are also in a great area to hunt. If you have the time and money you can hunt 3 states within 10 minutes.
There is some great public land in PA that isnt too far from you and a few nice places in the panhandle of WV. Look up Warden415- he lives in Weirton and is a local game warden. He also builds some pretty bows.

Let me second Buckeye_Hunter on the Ohio Traditional Deer hunt - it's just too much fun to miss. The nightly camping fee ($0.00) is tough to beat and the company is outstanding.
Welcome to Ohio and good hunting to you.
:-D
Thier are no trad clubs local.I live about 40 minutes away. But sherwood is a good place to shoot.Once you hunt ohio you are not going to want to hunt other states around here.
Bummer. You're definately not going to like hunting in Ohio... I can hardly stand to make the 4 and a half hour drive there every weekend starting in September.)))))

Definately check out OSTA. Their shoots are worth the trip. Course I might be a bit biased. :-)

You'll never meet a greater bunch of people.
Bummer. This is the last year they will have a decent football team then you will wish you moved to Michigan! Actually, MOST Buckeyes are pretty good people and they have some dandy bucks to hunt down there.
I'm originally from Cleveland and hunted Fernwood State Forest just South of Steubenville a few years. Saw some nice bucks come out of it and got all my deer harvests there. Just over 3,000 acres. Camp/hunted it once for a week and took two that trip. I was hoping to work out a trip there this season, late Oct or early Nov for a week. You may want to check it out for hunting. I haven't been out there for years but some family from near Cleveland still hunt it, so I reckon it's still good hunting, or they wouldn't drive down for it.
Thanks for all of the info. I am looking forward to this coming season.
