When I was out visiting Michigan family, fishing, and exploring Fred Bear country, I met my niece and her husband's daughter for the first time. She is going on 5 years old, and is able to have a bit of a conversation, that went something like this:
"How old are you?" "4 years old, and I want to hunt for deer like my dad." "What do you want to hunt with, a rifle or a bow?" "I want to hunt with a bow!"
So, I want to make her a bow to start practicing. But I have never had any children and I have no idea where to start off for a child. How long, what weight, and at what draw length would I make a bow for a 4 almost 5 year old girl? Thanks for any advice.

48" longbow or recurve. 15 @ 20". Great job helping a child get started!
