Title: My New Hunting Partner
Post by: Walt Francis on August 17, 2008, 12:28:00 AM
I went to the Montana State Houndsman Association trials today and the raffles as well as my friends were really kind to me.  One of my lion hunting friends happened to win this prize and said he already has two and asked if I wanted one of my own (I think it was just to keep me from borrowing theirs all the time).

She is now seven weeks old and should be ready to follow the big boys and learn the ropes when kitty season opens on 12/1.

Nice Bluetick. I had a couple of Sebastian bred Blueticks that were excellent bear dogs.

WidowEater, she be a Bluetick and named Pearl.

Joseph, as expected, all three of the cats, Ludo, Sebastian, and Joe, freaked out, they are still looking out the windows wondering what the hound is doing in their yard.   But Pearl is holding her ground, trying to get at them through the window.  Needless to say, this pup will be kept outside and out of sight of the cats.

Randy, give me a call if you cut any tracks this winter, I want to put her on as many trails as possible this years.

Them hound-dawg pups sure are cute aint they?
We have a black and tan cross, 14 years old.  She  used to tree coons and bobcats but mostly just sleeps in the house now ---  part of the family.  Never managed to get her to track mtn lion  ("Cat track? -- what cat track? -- I don't smell nutton--- Now let's get Outta Here!") or blood trail game  but she was good about staying out of trouble. She never bothered the wife's "kitties",  but if a stray cat came around -- it was sent up a tree right pronto! .  We are planning to head over to Missoula  this weekend to pick up a Plott - Redbone cross puppy.  Hope it turns out half as good  as our old one --------
