Title: Carbon Arrow question
Post by: Indie on August 16, 2008, 03:11:00 AM
After changing bows, I need some new arrows and I´m sure you guys can give me some good advice on that.
I´m doing 3D tournaments only, no hunting.
With my 60lb Bob Lee Recurve (64" long) I shoot the 340 Beman MFX Classic in full length with a 100gn at front and they come out great.

Because of shoulder problems I got a Bob Lee Recurve also 64" which draws 45lb at my 31,5 draw.
(Got the bow from a TradGang member and was a great deal - Thanks again!)
I tried my 31,5 Gold Tip 5575 and the Beman.
They both seem to fly right, but the Beman seem to fly a bit straighter. I ndon´t know, wheter it´s the additional length or weight vs the Gold Tip (Gold Tip are 450gn).
The Beman might be a bit to heavy for longer shots.
(I liked the long straight flight out of the 60lb bow)

So I´,m thinking about getting the 400 Beman MFX in full length with a 100gn point. The 500 might get to soft in full length?
What do you think?
Any other ideas?
thanks,
Stefan

I would go with the 400 size bemen. I am shooting the same setup but with only 29 inch draw length and am using the 500. If you are going to leave the shaft at full length 32 inches then it seems that the 400 would be the correct size. I do think that the 500 may fly if you do only use 125 gr points and no extra up front weight...if you put another 100 gr up front the 500 shaft I think would become to soft and not enough spine .

Thanks, bill.

I only wanted to use a 100gn point and no additional weight up front and wondered if the 400s would be the right ones.
Any other ideas?
Wanted to order some shafts on Monday.
