Well I got a nice surprise yesterday when my FireFly FX made by Jim Jones arrived out of the blue. It had been waiting in South Africa for the past couple of weeks when some family came through for a visit and brought my bow. It's awesome!!!
Specs are: 55# @ 27" Macassar Ebony and Bocote riser, with Juniper limb veneers and Actionboo cores, with stained maple accents. Folks this bow draws SMOOTH, Im highly impressed! It was too windy and overcast to get the chronograph out but I'll post an update during the week when I can get a reading, but first impressions are its no slouch.
One more thing, Jim is a fantastic guy to deal with. He answered every email the next day and explained all my dumb questions. Even better he shipped the bow off 1 week earlier then he said it would be done by. And Tim at Braveheart was great as well, offering loads of advice, and just being a real pleasant guy to deal with. All round great customer service!
Hey Sutto, man am I glad I listened to you...this bow rocks!! Thanks for your comments and opinion!
Now for some pics:

Mike
All the best with it!
very cool
I think that is the pertiest FF I have seen yet.
Hey Dude - I just can't find the superlatives to describe Jim and his bows.
I ordered my new one about six weeks ago. Jim said it would take about three months. He contacted me yesterday and my bow ships on Monday. I will post pics when it arrives.
I have been shooting my basic F/F more and more lately. It's about as good as a bow has any right to be. In fact in my opinion - after shooting and owning dozens of bows - these are the best of the best. Jim does something with his limb design and they draw smoother than any other bow!
I know I have raved about Bob Lee bows before - however I just got rid of my new expensive Elite Lee - in the end it did not stack up against Jim's bow.
Jim is the best bowyer by far who I have dealt with. With Tim standing behind as backup - they are the best combo in bows and service avaialable today.
Do yourselves a favour and order one of these before word gets out and you have to wait 12 months.
Thanks for the nice comments Matabele and the p/m.

Jim,
Get ready to build an all ebony and juniper bow. 58" 55@28.
Fellas I got a Robertson I'll be puttin on the classifieds tomorrow.
Thanks for the comments gents, Im really pleased!
Heydeerman, that wood combo is going to look awesome!
Matabele,
Jim had told me about your bow and its journey. I just received one of his bows yesterday and I havent shot it yet. Maybe later today. I hate to be a copy cat but your bow looks too nice to be on that side of the world. We need one over here...specifically at my house!
Easy there guys, don't be ordering too many of these bows just yet. I just contacted Jim about building another one for me. I've been shooting one I received from Tim at Braveheart since March and they really are outstanding bows. I want to try a 58" model but just can't decide on the wood combination yet. I was leaning towards all bocote like the one heydeerman has been showing off but now those juniper limbs have caught my eye.
The wood combinations are one thing but most importantly is the way these babies shoot. I just really like the feel and design of these bows.
Jim (heydeerman) any chance you can post a pic of the one you just received. I don't mean to hijack Matabele's thread but...
Hatrick you're not hijackig at all...cant have too many pics of FireFlys :)
Heydeerman, yep it was quite a trek getting it to me. Through 4 countries and a couple extra shipping and transport bills it was pricey but worth it...so much so Im thinking about #2 as well. Thats the beauty of the bows we buy even with the same timber combo it'll look totally different and just as cool...enjoy!! :)
On another note does anyone have any chrono information for their FireFlys I'd be interested in hearing about their performance?
I've had a mind for a 3 pc LB design lately...what gives these bows the length....may have to reach out to Jim or Braveheart.
Riser length...limb length, etc...does it vary or is the riser set and limbs give it overall length.
This bow has an interesting design that looks like it can perform, as well as being stable and pointable.
More details appreciated.
You can check with Jim but I think he changes the bow length with the limbs. Mine is 62" and I have noticed some of the shorter bows still use the same 15" riser that my bow has.
