Title: Glen St Charles bow?
Post by: Bear Heart on August 13, 2008, 11:51:00 PM
I saw something for sale and I couldn't believe it was true.  A Glen St Charles "not traditional" bow.  I thought he only dealt with traditional.  Is this legit?

yes he had signature bow the buckskin made by howatt in the very early 80s he played around with shooting a compound barebow for a few years but could never get used to the let off be advised he personaly signed all the buckskins so i really dont think you are looking at a personal bow of his for the record his last bow hunt 1993
barren ground caribou  he used a yew self bow at 81!!!

Bear Heart.....Northwest Archery sold several different model bows...the buckskin signature was actually a small round wheel compound(old school)built by Martin. But it would also accept a martin/hatfield take down recurve limbs...But yes they did sell NOT traditional bows....bowdoc

bowdoc is correct, I have a Nebraskaland magazine that pays tribute to Fred Bear, This was one of his secret deer hunting spots, In the pictures it shows Glen hunting with a compound, by the way Fred shot is largest whitetail here.

I have one of those Buckskins on my shelf, it was my first bow. I am going to keep it because I might get some of those limbs, or not.  P.S. Glen hunted with a doctored compound so that he drew it without reaching let-off.
