Are his takedown recurves nice bows? I have never seen one in person. I know he is a sponsor here but I am looking for unbaised opinions. Thanks.
Very good bows in my opinion, in fact it's my go to bow. Dollar for dollar it's a lot of bow for the money.
They are nice bows and they are great to deal with, you get a lot of bang for your buck with a Bob lee.
You have to remember this is the Bob Lee of Wing archery fame and he and his son are superb Bowyers and great people. They live about 30 mins. south of me. Check out his history on their website
I own two Bob Lee's. Great bow and great people to deal with. I've been to his shop and was impressed. I have other bows but I shoot my "Lees" more often than not. My takedown recure has two sets of limbs at 43# & 50#. The lighter limbs are great for working on form. Smooth, no stack and no hand shock pretty much says it all.
You are not going to get any "unbiased" opinions.
With only one exception that I can think of, everyone you ask here will give you a top notch recommendation for Bob Lee bows, myself included.
I have a BL take down that is the best shooting bow that I believe I have ever had.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! one of the best!!! and great people you cant go wrong with any bob lee you dont stay in business for as long as bob lee by not doing something right!!!
Add me to the crowd of Bob Lee praisers. I've not shot a bow that would replace mine as my "go to" bow and I'v owned or shot many of the big name bows.
Finest recurves I`ve shot.I`m wanting one their takedown longbows something awful.RC
they are a bit heavy in the hand, but that helps stabalize them. Asbel era bighorn is my favorite.
I do not own a Bob Lee. But I have shot them. They are dang good bows. Gary
My go-to bows for the last couple of years.I have a bunch of limbs and two risers. Here are a few animals that didn't like them. This one didn't come out. (http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p191/Kip_album/2007_0411Image0069.jpg)
I got two second Hand Bob Lee Recurves. One is two years old, the other is 15 years old. They both are great bows and very smooth drawing (31,5 draw with a 64" bow).
Does anybody here have a lefty BL riser to sell me? (My right shoulder is a pain sometimes)
Stefan
Does anybody know the physical weight difference between the bows with micarta and without?
:campfire:
I shoot a Bob Lee HUNTER T/D. It's 48#'s @ 28"s and is 62"s in lenght. It has a grey w/black riser and black limbs. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Took 3 does with it last season. All 3 were double lung pass thru's. Going to use the same set up this season as last.

Dollar for Dollar best buy on the market  JMHO
And a top quality bow.
I Love my Bob lee. 58" 65#s at 29"
They are great bows! I shoot a widow recurve but my brother shoots side by side with his lee and they hold up. I will buy a lee curve soon but I just got a new bob lee stick that I have fallen in love with!
Own two Lee's,one curve and LB and think they are very smooth and fast bows

A great job for me by a great friend
Thanks for the input. Looks like I should start saving.
Everthing said here is right on. Especially the part about being heavy in the hand. Some archers prefer that though.
Whats that mean, heavy in the hand?
I think he means the mass wt. of the riser. Two of my Bob Lee risers were kinda of heavy ,not a bad thing but an older riser I found and bought was a scaled down riser in the longbow style,so very nice a little lighter and my favorite hunting bow just shoot it better.I do not think Ron makes them anymore but wish he did.Kip
I've never owned the take-down but recently I picked up one of the new Red Wing Hunters and it's as good as any bow I've owned.

Anytime bud I hope I get to do another one for you and joe again this year!
Yep, that's what I meant. Smooth shooting though.
I think I can be objective...
I do not own a Bob Lee, but only because the grip was a little thick for me.
I agree they are great shooters. I shot them side by side with some of the most expensive, "top end" bows out there and was super impressed. I personally, and this is just my opinion, felt the Lee was the better bow against all except one. I chose the other one due to the thinner grip. Bob's bows have no handshock, are accurate, fairly quiet and draw smoothly. Not to mention he will answer any question you can come up with and is VERY patient.
Honestly, if it were not for the thicker grip I would own one. Heck, I felt guilty not buying one of his bows after all the time he spent answering my questions and letting me shoot his bows. He is a fantastic guy!
Just my observations,
Charlie
I love my bob lee
If it's possibly try one out, as pointed out in buckeye_hunter's example a great bow for one person may not fit someone else's personal preferences. On the other hand if you like to buy and flip lots of bows, trying to find one that fits you might be a big part of the fun.
Personally I love my Bob lee hunter, it's a well made bow that's stable, draws smooth, and shoots reasonably fast. The mass weight of the riser is one of my favorite things about the bow, it seems to help a lot in keeping my bow arm steady.
I have 2, one curve and one longbow both take downs. I have several top end bows and the Lee is the one I go too.
I own two BL takedown's and I have a hard time trying to figure out which one to take to hte woods. My signature is my "go to" bow, but my hunter is not far behind it, i am in the process of trying to find a bob lee stick. I think i am starting to be a Bob Lee fanatic
I've got a Bob Lee takedown longbow now and love it. I owned another one that I foolishly sold. I won't make that mistake again. I'll add a recurve one of these days.
My Bob Lee is my go to bow.
Great bows, i have a few and prob 10+ other makers and i always seem to end up back with one of the bob lee's
