I just ordered myself a new bow. Called up Bob at Kohannah Bows and put in an order for one of his Kurve recurves. The bow will be 64", 45lbs @ my 29" draw. Riser wood will be Cocobolo w/tempered bamboo limbs and medium stain. Limb tips of Red Phenolic and black leather elk wrap. Will post photos upon receipt.
For those interested, this will be my second custom bow from Bob. I have one of his Windwalker Longbows and it is my favorite of the 8 bows I own. He is a top notch guy to deal with and builds an outstanding product!
Hello, to all those that remember me and to all those of you who are new. Been out of the picture for a while thanks to Uncle Sam keeping me busy. General bow season is a couple weeks away for those of us here in Oregon so, hopefully will be posting some upcoming hunt pics for all to enjoy. Take care now.............tw
Congrats!
Hope you connect this season! Have a good time in the woods. I am definitely looking forward to it! I like the lines and design of those Kohannah Kurves. Look forward to seeing it.
I have two of them also. Great bows, and a stand-up guy.
Snag, what part of Oregon are you in? My wife and I just bought a house down in Albany a few months ago. We were living in Salem but, got tired of the hustle and bustle. I still work there at the Military Dept. but, can't handle the traffic anymore. Anyway, I'll be doing my hunting during the General Bow season over east of Lebanon at a place called Scott Mountain.
I see you are a believer. So are the wife and myself. We just got settled into a new church after months of looking around in Albany. The time looking was very interesting but, it is good now to be settlin' down and getting the good Word. Hope your hunting goes well and you are able to put meat on the table. Good luck!
Good to hear you guys are settled in. I know what you mean about the "hustle and bustle"...I was born and raised and still in Eugene. Too many people! We have friends in the Burns area that I try and visit when I can. I like turning out the lights at night and it is dark and you can see the stars!
Yep, if even a wretch like me can be saved because of God's Grace, through His Son Jesus Christ...anyone can! Praise His Name!
Good to hear from you. Thanks for your service to our country! (Jesus came not to be served, but to serve)
Yes Sir, Bob makes a fine bow for the bucks.Matter of fact had a 58" Kurve that I should never had sold. All grey actionwood with black glass. Shot like the Dickens!
bentpole, just curious as to what made you sell? i love the way my windwalker shoots. it has virtually no hand shock.
I love my Kurve.
Burnsie
Are they cut to center or slightly off?
They look to be cut to center but, I'm not 100% sure on that.
I have a Bud I used to work with. He came over one day to shoot in my backyard. Well after he shot it he just had to have it. I said go order the same bow you'll have it in less than 3 months. Nope couldn't wait. Well I sold it to him and never did order another the same way.Bucky was mad at me too LOL! That and the fact that I shoot 2 D style longbows and a 3 piece takedown hybrid now. I always liked Bob's D style longbows too but right now I bow rich and money poor.
I understand the bow rich and money poor thing! The boss (wife) told me if I wanted another bow, I had to sell a gun. That said, the bow is on order and I'm less one gun. :-( Never shot the dang thing that much anyway! I'll get more use out of the bow as I intend for it to be used for small game hunting. You can hardly see it but, the bow in my avitar is Bob's Windwalker I had built.
I've ordered and owned 2 0f Bob's bows. First one was a 68" longbow second was a T/D recurve. I loved them both, but I developed the bow swap bug. I've since found a cure and the cure included a Kurve but since the program for the cure I developed a shoulder injury. Bob has the bow and is dropping it's poundage as I type. I can't wait to hold it again, his bows fit my shooting style. :archer:
That's funny right there Wannabe1 that's why my guns are gone too. Rather be in the woods holding a Longbow any day of the week.
There may come a day they try and take our guns away so, having bow and knowing how to survive with one will put us one up on alot of folks. LOVE THAT TRADITION AND TRADITIONAL WAYS!!!! :-)
Bob's one of those hidden secrets, builds a real good one, prices are very fair also, good luck w/the new bow...
I have a 58" Kurve on order. Kingwood riser and bamboo limbs with Sapele veneers. I will say that Bob is a pleasure to work with. He always answers e-mails promptly.
I fancy my 62" Kohannah flatbow. 'Boo limbs, bubinga riser and micarta tips.
Thank you for you service!
I almost went for the flatbow but, was not sure how it would perform. I have never shot one so, I ended up going for the recurve. Perhaps someday that will be my next bow from Bob.
Bob is one of the best! I had a Fury as my first custom and only sold it cause it was too short. I've been driving him crazy about a 3 peice longbow like the Fury. Maybe one day he'll make it and I want to be the first to have one. You can spend more but you won't get better.
Hey Sarge, took me awhile to track down your re-entry post.
I don't get on Tradgang as much as I used to, just too many things going on these days.
Congrats on the new bow.
Keep in touch! Ron
Ron, I concur with you on the too many things going on. It has been a while since I was last on here. I'll shoot you pics of the bow once it is finished. Also, I'll try and get some pics of the area I am going to hunt in. If my memory serves me correct, Bill Bailey was the one who turned me on to the area. Have you heard much from him lately?
